The Marx company's 'Battleground' playset was produced in the 1950's to 1970's. Many collectors still carry fond memories of this playset as featured in the Sears Wish Book. 2015 Playset Showcase: World War II Battle of the Bulge Playsets

When Hitler's last great push to the West erupted out of the Ardennes forest at Christmastime, 1944, the Nazi armored thrust was blunted at the small but strategically crucial crossroads town of Bastogne, where American troops, fighting with low ammunition, few medical supplies, no winter clothing or white camouflage suits, no air cover and very little artillery support, withstood relentless attacks by massive German tank and infantry units. When asked to surrender, the American commander replied with just one word: "NUTS!" In one of America's proudest moments of military success, the beleaguered Yanks held out until Patton came to their relief.

Whether referred to as 'the Battle of the Bulge' or 'Bastogne,' this conflict has inspired generations of wargamers and collectors.
