Art Gallery Announces Retirement

Chicago, IL (March 20, 2014) - After 22 years of dedicated service, Beate Minkovski, the co-founder of Woman Made Gallery (WMG) has announced her retirement.  Through her work at the non-profit gallery, she has made it a mission to support, cultivate and promote the diverse contributions of women in the arts through exhibitions and programs that serve, educate and enrich the community.

"Beate's unfaltering devotion and dedication to the WMG mission, created exposure and innovative resources for women artists worldwide while bringing prominence to the gallery. We will miss her drive and enthusiasm," said Board President, Tammi Franke.

Under Minkovski's leadership, more than 7,500 women artists have exhibited their work since WMG was established. WMG has hosted 378 exhibitions, including group and solo shows, Artisan Gallery exhibitions, and off-site shows.

Minkovski is well-known in the art community, taking active roles with neighboring arts organizations such as Intuit and ARC, and serving on the Community Arts Assistance Program (CAAP) Panel for the Chicago Cultural Center from 2005 to 2008, and in 2012. Minkovski was part of the Special Service Area (SSA) #29 Commission jury panel for public art in Chicago's Westtown, and has curated exhibitions for various other arts organizations, including the Women's Caucus for Art, The Women's Art Registry of Minnesota, and Women's Work in Woodstock, Illinois. She is the 2006 CWCA award recipient for achievements in the arts. In addition she was featured in theNEA Blog,Art Talk and included on theToday's Chicago Woman list of 100 Women Making a Difference.

"I am honored and very grateful to have had the opportunity to promote the work of women artists; it was all worth it and I would do it again in a heartbeat!" said Executive Director, Beate Minkovski. "Success would not have been possible without the tremendous work by our Board, the generosity of our donors, contributions by staff, volunteers, and members, and the desire by thousands of artists to exhibit their work at WMG. I am so very thankful for the many contributions that shaped WMG."

In her honor, WMG's Board has established the Beate Minkovski Legacy Fund to celebrate the successful realization of Minkovski's vision and aid in the gallery's transition period towards a future that will allow Minkovski's legacy to thrive. All donations to the fund of $250 or more will be recognized via a visual art thank you piece displayed at WMG. Donations may be made here:
