Woman Made Gallery (WMG) is proud to present two group exhibitions, "Of the Land" and "From the Earth." The opening reception on November 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. is free and open to the public.

Juried by Heidi Norton, "Of the Land" is a group exhibition with 30 works by 21 artists

Throughout history and across the world, the word 'land' has ranged in its connotations to connect with political and economic concepts, as well as emotional and romantic ones.  

Addressing the theme in a variety of media, including sculptural works, installations, video, and photography are Gwyneth Anderson, Kayla Anderson, Meghan Moe Beitiks, Jaime Bennati, Margaret Bobo-Dancy, Molly M. Brandt, Elaine Byrne, Azadeh Gholizadeh, Lydia Hunn, Hannah Ireland, Jessica Jacobs, Noelle Mason, Alisha McCurdy, Corinne D. Peterson, Sarah Pfohl, Amy Pleasant, Mike Rubin, Petya Shalamanova, Rachel Snack, Kimberly Webb, and Summer Zickefoose. 

 

The exhibition, "Of the Land" is wheelchair accessible.

Juried by Mary Stoppert and Carmen M. Perez, "From the Earth" is a group exhibition with 50 works by 27 artists. "The earliest crafts and functional objects were fabricated from locally available or traded natural (from the earth) materials: clay, wood, metal, fiber, stone, glass, leather, etc. This tradition continues today, enhanced by improved tools, techniques, processes."     

 

Included in this exhibition are functional and decorative objects made from natural materials by Ilse Bolle, Sarah C. Chapman, Alicia Forestall-Boehm, Francine Gourguechon, Marcia Grubb, Barbara Grunewald, Karen Gubitz, Kimberly Gust, Juarez Hawkins, Lori Hess, Linda Hillman, Linda Hillman, Dorothy Hughes, Malika Jackson, Susan Messer McBride, Mary O'Connell, Kate Oggel, Alyssa Paulsen, Corinne D. What LAND Means 
Sunday, December 8 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m

Please join us for a reading at Woman Made Gallery on Sunday, December 8th from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.  Selections were made by curator, Nina Corwin with an eye to assembling a program that represents a diversity of poets, styles, and approaches to the theme.  


"Through history, connotations of the word LAND have ranged from the political and economic, to the emotional and romantic.The afternoon will feature poems invoking landscape, environmentalism, ethnic/national identity, imperialism, wealth and ownership, revolution and redistribution, land as food source, home and community, inclusion and exclusion, and, of course, the physical/natural earth itself."

 

Readers include Jennifer Perrine, Donna Vorreyeur, Lea Graham, Divya Rajan, Michelle Deatrick, Sharon Dornberg-Lee, and Sue Blaustein.


All events are free and open to the public.

Woman Made Gallery (WMG) is a tax-exempt, not-for-profit organization founded in 1992. Its goal is to support, cultivate, and promote the diverse contributions of women in the arts through exhibitions and other programs that serve, educate, and enrich our community.
