Chairman's Column - September 2015
Guest article by Alicia Holloway, Right Recruiting

At the August WIBA luncheon, the new 2015 - 2016 Strategic Plan was passed out to all attendees.  There is a new mission and vision for the association and five key strategic objectives have been determined.

Vision Statement
WIBA - The advocate for advancing your  independent business

Mission Statement
WIBA provides resources, influence, and economic  development for independent business

Core Values
Integrity
Professional Development
Respectful Relationships
Accountability
Innovation
Growth
Key Objectives
  1. Enhance the success and capabilities of the Association, members and employees.

  2. Provide the voice of influence on public policy.

  3. Promote economic development of local and independent businesses.

  4. Create a strategic advantage through technology and innovative business processes.

  5. Provide increased member value.

The Board of Directors is working diligently on these five key objectives to ensure that WIBA will continue to provide resources, influence and economic development for independent business.  Every member of WIBA is important to our continued success.  We want to hear your comments, suggestions, or questions and welcome your support of our initiatives.  Feel free to contact the WIBA office or any member of the Board of Directors at any time.

The Executive Committee has begun the search for the President position.  The new President will be charged with increasing member engagement as well as growing our membership.  The President will also work to implement the strategic plan objectives.

WIBA already provides many benefits for our members - opportunities for networking, excellent luncheon presentations by business and government leaders, meetings with local, state and regional elected officials as well as educational seminars.  We plan to build on those benefits to increase the value of membership.   WIBA has always promoted doing business with other members and to "keep it local".  Doing business together benefits everyone.  Our vision is clear:  WIBA is the advocate for advancing your independent business.

The Executive Committee and the Board of Directors are excited about our renewed focus and future plans to strengthen the organization.  We will keep you updated on our progress in upcoming newsletters.

A link to the complete details of the plan is included below. It is also available for download from our web site.
