Chairman's Column

Changing of the Guard

When beginning a term as chairman it is always wise to say thank you to your predecessor.  Wayne Roberts has earned more than thanks.  Even before becoming WIBA chairman Roberts made a huge contribution to WIBA by proposing new business models for us.  Those ideas helped us envision the collaboration that developed with the Nonprofit Chamber of Service of Sedgwick County.

For the community perhaps his most lasting gift would be the fruits of his work supporting bringing the new tankers to McConnell AFB.  Roberts and Pat Gallagher from the Chamber tirelessly organized public support and travelled to many states and D.C representing our community.  Last year WIBA and the Wichita Metro Chamber formed a joint military affairs committee.  Who could be named chairman but Wayne Roberts? When you exit the stage you would like it to be said that you contributed to making the community better.  Wayne, enjoy Bozeman.  You are welcome back anytime.  You earned the respect of all of those who worked with you.
