WIBA monthly luncheon, May 13



This month's luncheon will feature John Tomblin, Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer at Wichita State University (WSU) and the Executive Director of the National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR).  NIAR is able to integrate business, government and university entities in cooperative efforts to advance aviation technology. Tomblin will be speaking about the collaboration between NIAR and the business community. 



The luncheon will be held at the Wichita Boathouse, 515 S. Wichita St., from 11:45 a.m. - 1 p.m. The cost is $20. Reservations are required by Friday, May 9. Reservations and payment can be made online at www.wiba.org, by calling the WIBA office at 316-201-3264 or by emailing membership@wiba.org.

Chairman's Column

Changing of the Guard



When beginning a term as chairman it is always wise to say thank you to your predecessor.  Wayne Roberts has earned more than thanks.  Even before becoming WIBA chairman Roberts made a huge contribution to WIBA by proposing new business models for us.  Those ideas helped us envision the collaboration that developed with the Nonprofit Chamber of Service of Sedgwick County.

For the community perhaps his most lasting gift would be the fruits of his work supporting bringing the new tankers to McConnell AFB.  Roberts and Pat Gallagher from the Chamber tirelessly organized public support and travelled to many states and D.C representing our community.  Last year WIBA and the Wichita Metro Chamber formed a joint military affairs committee.  Who could be named chairman but Wayne Roberts? When you exit the stage you would like it to be said that you contributed to making the community better.  Wayne, enjoy Bozeman.  You are welcome back anytime.  You earned the respect of all of those who worked with you.

The May educational seminar will be held as a three-part series on successive Wednesdays. Each session will be held at the WIBA offices, 200 E. 1st St., Ste. 101, from Noon - 1:30 p.m.  Cost is $10 per session.
