New PSAs Raise Awareness of the 31,000 Older Youth Awaiting Adoption in the U.S. Foster Care System

According to information from the Ad Council website, there are currently 102,000 children (under 18 years of age) available for adoption from the foster care system in the United States; more than 30 percent (31,000) are between the ages of 11 and 17.
The Ad Council website reports that  the foster to adoption campaign has consistently delivered the message "You don't have to be perfect to be a perfect parent." The latest series of PSAs in this award-winning campaign ask prospective parents to consider adopting older youth ages 11-17.  Potential parents are reminded that older youth in foster care don't need perfection; they need the commitment and love an adoptive family can provide. Newest Annual Report Now Available Online!
Family Ark's latest Annual Report is now available online. Thanks to all of our donors, volunteers, and supporters! As Board President David Hillman says in his Annual Report letter, "I have always had a special place in my heart for the children and families we support, but I think this year has been even more impactful. With the work we have done this year, we have solidified our program offerings and services. We provide critical, quality services to children who have been abused and neglected and we understand that the success of every family is the crucial element of raising healthy, productive and loving children. Every child and every family really does matter."

Our Commissary
Donations to the Family Ark Commissary make a difference!
One of the unique features at Family Ark is the commissary that is open to the families we serve. The commissary provides no-cost shopping to our families with access to donations of food, clothing, toiletries, diapers, toys and other essential items.
Case managers often utilize the commissary after assessing needs of new clients. They are able to quickly gather items for a new mother or clothing for children in transition to foster care. Recently, a new mom was provided with a crib, crib mattress and other items necessary for a nursery. Foster children often "shop" for themselves. Recently, a young boy was happy to find super-hero pjs and a Spiderman toy and proudly carried them out the door. All of these items are possible because of donations from generous folks in our community. Folks like Faith Lutheran Church, Kentucky Harvest, the Pajama Program, Metro United Way of Southern Indiana, and so many more. We are fortunate to have such a resource available for our families and thankful that we have thoughtful, giving  donors! To find our how you can donate, email info@thefamilyark.org or call (812) 288-6800.
