MEMORIAL SERVICE HONORING VIOLET DINWIDDIE
You are invited to a memorial held in her honor at Stafford's Weathervane Restaurant in Charlevoix on October 29, 2016 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Violet "Vi" Dinwiddie who was the office manager at the Charlevoix Area Chamber of Commerce for many years passed away on October 15, 2016 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City, Tennessee.
As office manager, Vi was an integral part of the Chamber and was an expert at her job. It was Vi who greeted members at the monthly Biz Breakfasts and Business After Hours events and the many visitors at the Chamber office. She was also the person who helped new members organize their ribbon cutting and open house functions. She was a great salesperson. She effortlessly accomplished the task of selling hundreds of raffle tickets to benefit the Chamber. Her previous years of managing group reservations and customer relations at the Weathervane Terrace Inn & Suites and at The Lodge were beneficial to operations at the Chamber.
After retiring from the Charlevoix Chamber in 2008, Violet moved to Union City, Tennessee and there she volunteered at the senior center. She was so wonderful with people that she was offered a job at the Eddie Cox Senior Center and even though she wanted to retire from there many times the executive director always talked her out of it because she was so valuable to the Senior Center. Vi finally retired earlier this year but returned to work on occasion when asked.
Vi had a gift of making people feel comfortable when they were in her presence and she made everyone feel like they were the most important person in the world. Family and friends, her gardens and wildlife were her passions in life. She had a genuine interest in others and made friends easily.
