FEBRUARY 10 DEADLINE FOR PPT EXEMPTIONS
The deadline is approaching for businesses with less than $80,000 in personal property to file Form 5076, the state's eligible personal property exemption affidavit.  It must be filed annually with your local assessing office by February 10.

State law changes made two years ago exempt small businesses from paying property taxes on up to $80,000 in personal property - items like equipment, furniture, computers, etc.  But the exemption form must be filed each year with your local assessor.  Businesses that don't qualify for the exemption must file their Personal Property Tax Statement form with their local assessors by February 20.  Failure to file the PPT statement or exemption affidavit will result in an estimated assessment from your local assessor.
