FULL CIRCLE FOR LOCAL NURSE PRACTITIONER
Charlevoix Area Hospital welcomes nurse practitioner Jean McDonough back "home" to the hospital where she held her very first nursing job after graduation from North Central Michigan College in 1989.

In 1975, Jean's family had moved from the Detroit are to settle up north in Charlevoix.  Even as a small girl, Jean knew that she wanted to go into the medical field.  "I knew as a young adult that I really enjoyed helping people, so a natural career for me was the nursing profession," said Jean.  After graduating from Charlevoix High School, Jean attended NCMC where she received an associate's degree in 1989.  More.

DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE
Like Alice in Wonderland, over a hundred guests found themselves moving from property to property on a giant monopoly board, complete with railroads and Community Chest as Raven Hill Discovery Center's Annual Summer Magic Festival.  They bid on silent auction items displayed on huge dice and enjoyed "just visiting" at the jail.  This year's festival theme was "Fun and Games" and it was evident everywhere.  Nathan Bates Catering served picnic food on tables adorned with stacks of board games and guest tables were decorated with red gingham tablecloths and old-fashioned toys like Slinkys, Jacob's ladders and yo-yos.  Some of the Center's favorite games were moved outside for guests to enjoy and oversized dice with Raven Hill Discovery Center exhibits and facilities pictured encouraged guests to explore the grounds and punch cards in hopes of being the winner of a drawing.  Lots of new faces and great weather made  Summer Magic 2015 one of the best.  The annual fundraiser helps support operations and programs at Raven Hill.  Raven Hill board and staff are already starting to plan for next year's silver anniversary.  "Silver Threads" will be the theme for the Saturday, July 16, 2016 Summer Magic event, so everyone is encouraged to save the date and attend.

For more information on Raven Hill Discovery Center, visit www.ravenhilldiscoverycenter.org.
