Upcoming Deadlines

I looked out into my back yard the first weekend in August and couldn't believe that the leaves on my trees were changing already.  I should know better as change is constant and continuous.  As we leave summer behind and head into the month of September, HR professionals are faced with old issues such as the start of end-of-year reporting and our EEO-1 reports due by the end of September.  We also have new issues to deal with such as the notice to employees of coverage options regarding the health care exchanges that are due October 1st. These notices must be written in clear, understandable language and can either be mailed or sent electronically if the requirements of the DOL's electronic safe harbor disclosure are met.  If you have a current broker, they may be providing these letters to you or you can view the SHRM Online article "DOL Issues Model COBRA Election and Exchange Notices" for assistance.
