 GO BISHOPS!
The Month Of April Is Dedicated To The Blessed Sacrament!

The month of April is dedicated to the Blessed Sacrament. Frequent prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, reserved in the tabernacle, is one path to spiritual growth. Lent is the perfect time to begin the journey of deepening our relationship with God. May this Lent be one of growth as we await the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ on Easter.

Anima Christi

Soul of Christ, sanctify me

Body of Christ, save me

Blood of Christ, inebriate me

Water from Christ's side, wash me

Passion of Christ, strengthen me

Oh good Jesus, hear me

Within thy wounds, hide me

Suffer me not to be separated from thee

From the malicious enemy, defend me

In the hour of my death, call me

And bid me come unto thee

That I may praise thee with thy saints

And with thy angels, forever and ever.

Amen.

Relations and Giving
Your Contributions Make A Difference!

Dear Friends,

The Annual Fund for Bishop England High School is well underway, and I am writing to you because I believe you have a vested interest in the success of this endeavor.  As a graduate, parent, or friend, you are well aware of the academic skills, self-confidence, and commitment to community service that are the tradition of the Bishop England experience. The Annual Fund is an important component to provide these educational opportunities to young men and women at an affordable cost.

The operations of the BEHS have tradionally been financed principally from tuition revenue.  Over the past few days, the administration and The Office of Relations and Giving have worked to enhance fundraising efforts to broaden the financial support for the school.  The Annual Fund is a critical part of this plan, and your participation is vitally important to its success and to other related development needs.Your commitment to the ongoing success of BEHS is greatly appreciated.

On behalf of the entire Bishop England High School administration, I offer you our sincerest "thank you" and wish you the very best during this Lenten season.

You can make a gift online by clicking this link. And remember, if you work for a matching gift company, you can double-sometimes triple your contribution.

Guidance Department  News!
Student of the Month!

Robbie Lester

Robbie Lester was chosen as Guidance Student of the Month for February 2014. Mrs. Story nominated Robbie for always being helpful, courteous, and evolving into a nice young man.  Mrs. Salley also thinks he is very deserving of being recognized because of his generous heart. He took it upon himself to make a new prayer box for BE. Robbie learned woodworking from his father and does an excellent job making tables, shutters, foot rests, and rocking chairs. Robbie is very active on Bishop England's campus. He is a member of the Retreat Team, Prayer Team, Fellas, Drama Club, BE Swim Team, Pro-Life Club, Junior Board, and a BE Ambassador.

Guidance would like to recognize Robbie and commend him for his commitment to BE and humble attitude. As of now, he plans on either going to seminary school or majoring in Theology in college.

A Senior reflects on what it means to be part of a team..

Two weeks ago I had laced up my skates and put on my BE/PG jersey for the last time. It was the state championship game and my last time representing BE/PG Hockey. This was the second time in three years that we had made it to state, and as a senior, I felt that it was an all or nothing game. After a grueling forty-five minutes, the final buzzer went off, and we had come up one goal short. Everybody was heartbroken, especially us seniors. Before the game, our coach had told us "No regrets" and "Leave it all on the ice," and that's exactly what I did. A few minutes after the game, it was hard to believe that my four years of high school hockey were over, but looking back, I would not have had it any other way. Some people think that championships are measured by trophies, but when you play for a while, that's when you recognize that championships are measured by all the bonds and good times you made with your team. Although we did not win state, our team had accomplished so much. Before freshman year, the coaches would stress about even having enough kids show up who were able to play, let alone win a game. This year's senior class came in our freshman year and helped transform a team from one that was expected to lose every game to a powerhouse that would medal three years in a row. Hockey never goes on vacation; Hockey never gets divorced; Hockey never dies. Hockey has given me so much and has been such a huge part of who I am. I only wish that I could give back as much as I have received. My journey may be over, but I could not be any more thankful for what hockey has given me.
