Dear Friends,

Today marks the beginning of the holy season of Lent. As we journey through these 40 days to Easter, we strive to make ourselves and our lives of faith a little better. Here at Bishop England, the students are encouraged to pray more consistently, to recognize the good in each other, to respect their parents and each other, to practice good sportsmanship, to be patient, kind, responsible, honest and hopeful, and most of all to have compassion for others and give alms to the poor.

As a graduate, parent, or friend, you are aware of the commitments to faith development and community service that are part of the Bishop England experience.  We began Lent today with an all school Mass and will strive to make this a meaningful season for our students by praying the rosary every day before school, by daily prayer and reflections, by celebrating Friday liturgies, by encouraging students to fast from anger, gossip, making excuses, laziness, complaining and discouragement, and by offering ways that they can consider their almsgiving.

I am writing to you because you have a vested interest in these endeavors. Your moral and financial support of the school is essential to their success. The operations and maintenance of BEHS have been financed principally from tuition revenue in the past.  More recently, we have enhanced fundraising efforts to broaden the financial support for the school and to keep tuition affordable.  The Annual Fund is a critical part of this plan and your participation is vitally important to its success.  We ask that you consider a gift to the Annual Fund as a part of your Lenten almsgiving.  Your generosity has helped us to reach nearly 70 % of this year's goal of $250,000. To complete our goal, we need to raise $80,000 between now and June 30. Will you please help us with an Annual Fund gift during Lent?  Your generosity, sacrifice and commitment to the ongoing success of BEHS are greatly appreciated.  All gifts are tax deductible. Please Donate - Click Here

On behalf of the entire Bishop England High School community, I offer you our sincerest "thank you" and wish you a holy and meaningful Lenten season.

Sincerely,

Mary E. Nemeth
