Creating value from distressed debt

TMA Europe's fourth annual event dedicated to distressed investing will take place in London on Thursday, 17 September. More than 100 buyers, sellers and advisory professionals are expected to attend the Distressed Investing Conference at Deloitte Auditorium, 2 New Street Square, from 4pm until 8pm. Hear from those closely engaged in sell-side portfolio divestment and buy-side portfolio appraisal as to what asset classes are on offer, and get an update on the most exciting opportunity for the restructuring industry in many years to create value and fee income from the unwinding of the years of over-exuberant lending. Book now.

With more than €1.5 trillion of NPLs in European bank portfolios and pressure from regulatory and AQR pressure to offload increasing, the big question for anyone working in the distressed investing market is where is the action going to be this year and next.

Many experts in the field believe there is a really exciting opportunity for the restructuring industry to create value and fee income from the unwinding of the years of over-exuberant lending.

So the questions go on. Who's buying? Who's selling? What are the opportunities in SME corporate loans?

And for practitioners involved in turnaround and restructuring, what are the implications and opportunities? How do work-out professionals get a share of the action?

While there are obviously no clear-cut answers, TMA Europe's Distressed Investing Conference, being held in London on Thursday, 17 September, aims to shed light on some of these key issues.
The fourth annual event will see expert speakers sharing their insight on topics ranging from whether the markets are working smoothly to what professionals can expect from regulatory requirements and profit expectations.

The event, expected to be attended by more than 100 buyers, sellers and advisory professionals, is also a great chance to hear first-hand the views of those involved in sell-side portfolio divestment and buy-side portfolio appraisal as to what asset classes are on offer, what frustrates sellers and what drives the buyers.

EACTP's Standards and Admissions Committee (SAC) appoints three new members

The SAC has responsibility for safeguarding the quality and integrity of the CTP qualification through the admissions process.
The Committee has been expanded to nine members each of whom will serve a three year term.  Reijo Järvinen, of Finland, having served his three year term, has retired from SAC.
EACTP thanks Reijo for his hard work on the Committee, and his help in shaping the organisation's admissions process and criteria.
Following an appeal for volunteers three new members have been appointed to SAC. The choice of members took into account both the current and aspirational membership of EACTP.  The new members, who will serve until June 2018, are:
  • Jeroen Overing of the Netherlands
  • Piotr Bieniasz of Poland
  • Eugen Lascu of Romania.
TMA UK Annual Conference

Last year's conference was awarded the Most Innovative Event of 2014 and featured Lord Leigh and Lord Glassman as the keynote speakers and we ended the day with Simon Weston.  We were fortunate enough to sell out two weeks before the conference, which was attended by nearly 200 delegates from 100 organisations.

This year's theme is Managing Talent and we have lined up an impressive array of speakers and panellists. The two panels will look at Managing Creative Talent and Managing Talent in Disruptive Industries.
The speakers include: Judge Kevin Carey; Elizabeth Clark; Ian Gray; Rainer Hersch; Manley Hopkinson; Sir Ian McGeechan; James Murray; Byron Nurse; Chris Parkhouse; Fraser Pearce; Adam Plainer; Dr Mike Rugg-Gunn; Cilla Snowball CBE; Rosemary Squire OBE; Peter Waine & James Wheeler.

The TMA UK's conferences are of the highest quality and there are still a few sponsorship opportunities left. These are for firms seeking an involvement in building the TMA and benefiting from its cross border global network.

To assist you with all this Education and Networking we will start at 8am with Breakfast. Other networking opportunities are in the mid-morning, Lunch and mid-afternoon breaks. The day ends with a Champagne Reception.
