Bookings open for TMA Europe's Distressed Investing Conference 2015

TMA Europe will once again host its annual event dedicated to the distressed investing market in London this September.

Some of Europe's leading turnaround experts will attend the Distressed Investing Conference on Thursday, 17 September, for which bookings are now being taken.

With more than €1.5 trillion of NPLs in European bank portfolios and increasing pressure from regulatory and AQR pressure to offload, the conference will seek to throw some light on where the action will be in 2015 and 2016, who is buying and selling and what the opportunities are in SME corporate loans.

The event will provide an opportunity to hear the views of those closely engaged in sell-side portfolio divestment and buy-side portfolio appraisal as to what asset classes are on offer, what frustrates sellers and what drives the buyers. Debates will range from whether the markets are working smoothly to what professionals can expect from regulatory requirements and profit expectations.

More than 100 buyers, sellers and advisory professionals are expected to attend the fourth annual event.

The event is being hosted by TMA Europe sponsors Deloitte at their Auditorium, 2 New Street Square. It will run from 4pm until 8pm.

Book now to ensure your place at the forthcoming Distressed Investing Event.

TMA Europe awards celebrate turnaround management at its best

An outstanding example of turnaround management has been recognised by the European body dedicated to corporate renewal.
The winners of Turnaround Management Association Europe's Turnaround of the Year Awards were announced at its annual conference in Stockholm last month as Dr Lukas Fecker, of Innovation Brain LLC, and Alan Tilley, of BM&T, for their work on the turnaround of Finatrade Group.
The awards, which are now in their fourth year, aim to celebrate the achievements of the individual or team of TMA turnaround professionals who have orchestrated the most successful recovery of a struggling company. Submissions are assessed on the actions taken to bring around the turnaround, the issues that arose and how they were overcome, as well as the eventual outcome.

Introducing Chapter 50 - TMA Austria

In April, TMA entered into an agreement with ReTurn, the Austrian restructuring and turnaround body. As a result of the collaboration, TMA Austria was launched, becoming the 50th TMA chapter worldwide in the process.

Bernhard Klingler, president of the new chapter, said that many of ReTurn's aims, activities and membership had always been very similar to TMA's.

Founded in 2006, ReTurn currently has 430 members, more than 100 of whom have chosen to join TMA so far. It serves as a platform in Austria for restructuring managers, business consultants, bankers, certified public accountants, specialised investors and lawyers.

Mr Klingler said: "Our main goal from the start was to promote and secure the quality of the Austrian restructuring market. ReTurn has worked hard, and made some real impact, on initiatives to improve legal frameworks regarding restructurings, and to make good turnaround management standards visible."
