Dear (Contact First Name),

Our next session of Drawing Together will be April 30, 2013,
10:00 am in the Downstairs Meeting Room of the Rye Public Library.

Please bring GARDEN TOOLS (and garden related objects for our drawing subject matter)

The sketching prompt decided on by the group is:

                                    EMERGING

There's still time to sketch!
We will share our sketching experiences at the beginning of our session.

Tuesday's session, April 30, will be the last one I will be able
to facilitate. Then it's a drive west for Orange Boy, Jim  and me,
to our new home in Salem,  Oregon, near our newest family member, first granddaughter, Ember (Below, on her way to her One Month Picnic).

Au Revoir!

I will be sad to leave Rye and our Drawing Together group. What a
neat gathering of people it's turned out to be! My hope is that drawing will continue to be a pleasure for all of you.

P.S. Tricia is missing a basket from our basket drawing session-she would appreciate its return -it has a round open top and looks like this:

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

HAVE YOUR SAY IN A FASHION SURVEY

Barbara LaSala, one of our "Drawers", sent me this set of surveys of women's thoughts on fashion and shopping. Her daughter Linda designed the surveys in conjunction with her Graduate studies.
I am having fun completing the surveys and voicing my opinions!

the following is from Linda LaSala

 Hello!
As many of you know I have been working on my master's degree for a couple of years... And I am FINALLY launching the fashion surveys that you have
probably heard so much about.

Please click on the link above and explore the surveys (under the surveys tab). All are short - only one has more than 10 questions about the subject matter and they all end with the same 5 demographic
questions that also need to be answered.

The questions explore how women make their shopping decisions, and how we  feel about fashion, shopping, brands etc. They are designed for women to answer (but just in case, one of the demographic questions asks for gender).

Each survey starts with a story about the subject matter or about how I  experienced the subject matter while working in the industry. (Some of you  might recognize yourselves in these stories!!)

I hope you find the questions thought provoking and that you leave comments  on the site for all to see or confidentially as you answer the survey.  Please sign up for the email list as well, so I can update you with results.

Lastly, I would appreciate it if you could forward the link to friends - whether or not they are interested in fashion - I am trying to get as many  women as I can to complete the surveys. There is no cut off date - I will  continue to update results and launch new surveys - but for the purposes of
the course I am completing, I hope to start evaluating results in May.

Thanks so much!

Linda

PS if you see anything that needs to be corrected, or have a suggestion for
future survey topics, definitely let me know.

Drawing Negative Space
"Little Red Riding Hood "by Yau Hoong Tang

"Negative space is the area of an image not occupied by shapes or forms and is often the part of the drawing that's neglected. Negative space drawings involve concentrating on drawing the background, leaving the object white or empty."

We will do negative shape drawings to warm up tomorrow.
I promise you it will improve your drawing skills!
