Congratulations Tricia and Pam!

Rye Public Library observed two milestones this fall.  Tricia Quinn, Associate Director of the Library, celebrated the twenty-fifth anniversary of her employment at RPL!  Pam Woods, Technical Services/Inter-Library Loan Librarian, also celebrated her twentieth year at RPL!
We thank both Pam and Tricia for their dedicated and excellent service to the Rye community.  They are a big part of the success of the Rye Public Library throughout their careers, and looking into the future.
Please help us convey our appreciation for their hard work as you visit the Library in the remainder of 2012 and beyond!
Running and Reading at RPL
Readers had an interesting opportunity at Rye Public Library this autumn.  For six weeks, a new reading group read and discussed Born to Run by Chris McDougal joining for training runs after each discussion.  Most of the Running and Reading  group finished up with the Great Island 5K road race in early October.  We hope to offer more activity reading groups in the future, as well as a variety of weekly activity options including: Chair Yoga on Mondays, Genealogy on Tuesdays,  Knitting with Mary on Thursday mornings, Mah Jongg on Thursday afternoons, and our ever popular Wednesday Matinees!
Strategic Plan Progress Report Highlights

We thank Victor Azzi, Karen Allen, Kendra Gemmet, Lisa Houde Ann Malpass, Connie Olson, and Tricia Quinn for serving along with me as the Strategic Plan Progress Committee.

Our findings, presented in our first review report, are that progress has been made on all of our goals to a degree well beyond that which we would expect at this point in the lifetime of the Plan!

Recognition and according adjustments have been made where timeline considerations were suggested by actual practice, and where new objectives have emerged during implementation of the plan.

To date, Strategic Plan budgetary capacity  has been met through re-allocation of existing funds, application of granted funds, as well as support through the Friends of the Rye Public Library.  indications are positive for future Strategic Plan-based budgetary inclusions to our town appropriation.

All indications suggest that we can look forward to continued progress at a rate at least on track with expected averages, if not at greater rates. As set forth as an objective of the Rye Public Library Three-Year Strategic Plan 2012-2015, we have made real-time adjustments to the plan. Revisions and additions have been made reflective of realities of implementation. We feel the RPL Three-Year Strategic Plan currently exists as, and will continue to be, a dynamic and successful document guiding an equally dynamic and successful institution.

New Offerings at RPL
We are happy to announce a new electronic feature for our members.  Along with our downloadable audio and e-books, mp3 files and numerous databases, we are happy to announce the inclusion of Indieflix   We are now a test library for this service offering unlimited streaming of thousands of award winning and festival curated independently produced films.  All simply require your library card for access.  Remember our Wednesday matinee series re-named A Touch of Grace in honor of Grace Putnam, mother of Gwen Putnam-Bailey, and series volunteer, who recently passed away.  We will fondly remember Grace through the matinee series.
Thanks for reviewing this edition of Ripple Effect. We are happy to report the significant developments made at our first review of our Strategic Plan.  Please contact the Rye Public Library for more information, or to lend a hand!

Sincerely,

Andrew Richmond
