Greetings!

Its all over but the racing!  Thanks so much for taking part in Running And Reading at Rye Public Library!  It has been a great experience.  I hope you can make our final session on Tuesday Oct 2, and then join us on Sunday Oct. 7 for the Great Island 5K.  Last week we enjoyed a discussion  of Chapters 21-27 (pages 136 -213) then a 5K road run.  Next session will be the last discussion of Chapters 28- Finish.  Click here for our full schedule . There is a mixed bag in this final newsletter--enjoy!

Minimal Running Info Sites

Eric McCann of Runner's Alley suggested these sites for good info during his presentation:

Ultra Running Articles

I mentioned these articles during last session.  Running journalist  Rob Levey ,writer of the great Running and Reading profile, (pictured above with his sons )describes his ultra running experiences at the following links to two great articles describing his anticipation and experience running a 50 mile race.  I thought they gave a great feel for running an ultra.

Check out the Running and Reading Wiki!
Lisa designed a wiki to support the R&R program.  Sign in and add new questions, thoughts, ideas, whatever. There is some fun stuff there already.  Feel free to add!

Here are some questions to consider as you read the final chapters for Oct. 2:
Human evolution as a running animal is considered here.  Thoughts?

THE RACE!  Worth the build-up?

Do you think this book will have any positive/negative effects on the Tarajumara? On Ultra running?  On the individual runner?
GreatBay5K  Check out the site for the Sun. Oct. 7 race we can train to run.  I'd suggest registering now if you plan to take part.

Lace up your huaraches and let's wrap it up.  Looking forward to next week's session!  Thanks so much for taking part in the first Running and Reading Book Club at RPL.  I'll keep your contact information handy and let you know when we gear up for another active reading group.
