What's Happening at Oscar Grady Library

Friends of Oscar Grady Library Seeking Donations for a New VIDEO GAME Collection -  Free "Friends of the Library" Family Membership for One Year During the Month of February!

The "Friends of Oscar Grady Library" are asking the community to help build a new collection at the library. During the month of February, the Friends are accepting donations of new or gently used video games for Xbox, Wii, and PlayStation systems.  If a game is used, the Friends ask that the game be functional.  The library will begin offering this new collection to patrons in 2015.  In return for a donation of at least one game, the Friends will provide a free individual or family membership to the Friends of the Oscar Grady Library.  The membership is good for one year and can be renewed at the library's circulation desk or during the annual community book sale.   Donations must be made in February during normal library operating hours in order to receive the free one-year membership.

Recipe Club - Tuesday, February 3, 2015 - 6:00-7:00 p.m.

Do you have a favorite food that you like to serve on game day?  The library's recipe club is looking for members!  Gourmet chef skills are not required...it's a great way to learn from others and share your best tips while testing out fun new recipes.  The theme for our February meeting is "Game Day."  Bring samples of the food and a copy of the recipe to share with the group.  For more information and to pre-register, contact the library at 262-284-6022.

Check out the library website for all the up-to-date info and activities.

The Two-Minute Rule
Permit Imagine being sound asleep in the middle of the night when suddenly your smoke alarms start blaring.  Your house is filling with smoke.  Do you know what to do?  According to the American Red Cross (ARC), fire experts agree that people have about two minutes to escape a burning home.

With this in mind, ARC created the Home Fire Preparedness Campaign to reduce the number of fire related deaths and injuries by up to 25 percent over the next five years.  You can be a part of this movement by having a fire escape plan that includes the following:

  • Make sure all members of the household know how to get out of every room in the house;
  • Pick a place outside where everyone can meet and be sure everyone knows where it is;
  • Practice waking up to smoke alarms, low crawling, and meeting outside;
