Tip 411 - Complete Anonymous Police Tips

The Saukville Police Department is launching the SKPD Tips (Tip0-411anonymous Tips) App for Android and iPhone devices that enables the public to send anonymous tips to the police and lets the police respond back, creating a two way anonymous "chat".

Developed by CitizenObserver, a St. Paul MN company, SKPD Tips puts a powerful new crime fighting tool into the hands of our community for all ages and demographics.  According to Saukville Police Chief Jeffrey Goetz, this capability is a new paradigm for creating safer communities - especially in reaching out to a younger age demographic.  "We're proud to make this technology available to our citizens free of charge.  This tool, along with our existing tip411 program, will help our citizens play an active role in keeping neighborhoods safer, it will engage people of all ages in the process, and it will save our agency time and resources. "

"SKPD Tips" app can be downloaded online at the Google Play Store, iTunes App Store, or by visiting the Police Departments website at http://www.village.saukville.wi.us/Police/

Citizens can also send an anonymous tip to Saukville Police Department by texting the word SKPD and their tip to 847411.

Anonymous web tips can be submitted from the Police Department's website at http://www.village.saukville.wi.us/Police/ or the CitizenObserver online site at http://www.citizenobserver.com/cov6/app/webTipForm.html?id=10873. It's 100% anonymous.  CitizenObserver's technology removes all identifying information before the police department see's it so there's no way to identify the sender.

About CitizenObserver - CitizenObserver, a St. Paul, MN company founded in 2000, provides web based alerting tools to law enforcement, education, and public safety agencies in over 40 states.

Is Your Mailbox & Post Ready for Winter?
Now is the time to address any deficiencies in your mailbox post or  the mailbox itself.  Before the cold weather hits and the ground freezes, check your mailbox/post for the following:
  • Weak or rotting posts
  • Street side of the box must not protrude beyond the house-side of the curb.
  • The distance from the street to the bottom of the box should be 42" to 46".
  • Wood and metal pipe are the only allowable post materials.  Brick or concrete posts are not allowed for motorists and cyclists safety reasons.

Most winter plow damage occurs when the mailbox projects too far into the street or the post is weak or rotten.  Keeping the furthest projection (street side) of the mailbox at least 2-3 inches behind the back of the concrete curb line is recommended.   Contact the Department of Public Works at 284-0545 with any questions.
