Cold Weather Tips

This winter has presented some extremely cold weather for an ongoing duration.

Here are a  few things to consider.

- If you have not had your home furnace serviced, do so as soon as possible.

- Keep your vehicles filled with fuel and have them serviced to maximize reliability. Cold weather will take a toll on batteries and other mechanical equipment. The extra money you may spend might well save your life.

- Ensure that your cell phone or other wireless devices are fully charged so you can communicate with emergency services should the power grid go down.

- If you have elderly relatives or friends in the area, check in with them more frequently to make sure they are okay and comfortable.  Do their shopping for them if need be so they do not have to go out.

- If you travel, make sure you are dressed properly or carry cold weather apparel: warm boots, mittens, hat, scarves and blankets. Heavy wool garments are  the standard for staving off cold wind and moisture should you become stranded.

It's critical to think ahead, plan, and Be Prepared!
