Dept. of Public Works News

Tree The Village Dept. of Public Works plants street trees annually on a rotating basis.  Young trees, especially those under 2 years old, need to be watered weekly in order to survive and thrive.  You can help by simply watering a newly planted or young street tree with 5 gallons of water once a week.  Your assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Also, remember, when cutting your grass, please try to keep clippings out of the street.  Rain washes debris into the catch basins and storm sewers and, over time, clogs them.  In order to keep the catch basins open and the storm sewers flowing, please bring your yard waste to the DPW Compost Site, open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through November 16th.
mailbox
It is a also a good time to check out your mailbox posts to see that they are in good shape for the winter weather season. Over time, Wisconsin weather can cause posts to weaken and even rot, making them especially susceptible to breakage when snow plows push heavy road slush to the curbside.  Please contact the Village Dept. of Public Works at 284-0545 for complete information on correct placement or replacement of mailbox posts.
