Yard Waste
Lawn MowerUnlike last year, the cool and wet weather this year has caused lawns to grow much faster and thicker.  When cutting your grass, please keep the clippings off the road.  Rain washes debris into the storm sewers and can clog them, or yard waste  gets washed into the Milwaukee River where it becomes pollutants that eventually end up in Lake Michigan.  Cleaning storm sewers is expensive to all tax payers and the damage to the river and lake cannot be reversed.  Please bring yard waste to the Village Compost Drop-off Site any Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Be green, keep it off the road and unseen!
Seniors - Keeping Cool for Summer

Summer is here!  Across the country, we see the heat index beginning to rise.  In many cases, the rising heat can affect our most vulnerable populations; young children and senior citizens.  Senior citizens are the most susceptible to heat fatigue because their bodies do not adjust well to sudden changes in temperature.  This population is also more likely to have a chronic medical condition or take prescriptions that make it difficult to regulate body temperature.

Check on senior citizens to ensure they protect themselves from heat exposure.  Be sure to visit older adults at least twice a day to see if they show signs of heat stroke or other heat related ailments.  Encourage them to drink lots of water and transport them to air conditioned locations, if necessary.  For more valuable tips on keeping senior citizens cool visit:

Are you prepared to beat the heat?
We all love the summer heat, but remember, too much heat can be dangerous, even deadly! ReadyWisconsin.gov wants to remind you to be "Heat Conscious" this summer.  More information can be found by clicking on the links above.
