EMTs & Fire Fighters Needed

Medical symbolIf you are interested in serving your community as an EMT or Fire Fighter, the Village is seeking dedicated individuals to become part of our team. Applications are available at Village Hall and on the Village website.  For more information, call the Saukville Fire Department at 262-284-5800 and leave a message.

FloodingThe Village is monitoring the Milwaukee River.  All pertinent information concerning the water level will be posted on the Village Website Home Page.

Flooding can occur in almost every part of the U.S. and during any month. In 2012, 39 percent of flood fatalities occurred from driving into flood water and 18 percent from walking into it.  If you're driving or walking and encounter flood water, turn around. Don't drown.

It only takes six inches of water to knock over an adult and cause loss of control of a vehicle.  A foot of water will float many vehicles and only two feet of rushing water will carry them away, including pickups and SUVs.

The depth of flood water is not always obvious.  It can be especially hard to judge at night.  The best option is to play it safe and turn around.

Sandbag Factoids ...

To be effective, sandbags must be properly filled.

Did you know ....The average sandbag measures 14 x 25 inches and is filled approximately half-full to allow proper stacking and placement. A properly filled sandbag should weigh approx. 40 lbs., and occupy a space of .28 cubic ft. when tamped into place.
To make a wall 100 ft. in length and 1 ft. high would require 800 sandbags and approximately 13 tons of sand (wet weight).

First Quarter Water Utility Bills have been mailed out.  Payment due date is April 25th.  If you did not receive your utility billing, please call Village Hall - Utility Billing at 284-9423.

Fire Hydrant Flushing will continue April 22nd through April 25th between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. There may be sHydrant2ome discoloration in your water during this process.  This is iron and is not harmful.  We recommend that you do not do laundry if your water is discolored.  If you forget and your clothes have a reddish appearance, DO NOT DRY THE LAUNDRY; rather rewash in cold water to remove the discoloration.  Run your taps for a short period after flushing in your area is completed to clear your lines.  If you have questions, please contact the Water Utility at 284-3185 or Village Hall at 284-9423.
