fire hydrant

Fire Hydrant Flushing is scheduled to begin April 15th and run through April 25th.  The Saukville Water Utility will be flushing hydrants in the Village Monday - Thursday between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.  There may be some discoloration in your water during this process.  This is iron and is not harmful.  We recommend that you do not do laundry if your water is discolored.  If you forget and your clothes have a reddish appearance, DO NOT DRY THE LAUNDRY; rather rewash in cold water to remove the discoloration.  Run your taps for a short period after flushing in your area is completed to clear your lines.  If you have questions, please contact the Water Utility at 284-3185 or Village Hall at 284-9423.

Storm Water Discharge

Saukville Logo

The Village of Saukville is regulated by permit under the Wisconsin DNR for storm water discharges to the Milwaukee River watershed via Village owned storm sewers.  The permit requires that the Village control its discharges by monitoring for illegal discharges, reducing sediment and pollutant loading, and minimizing total runoff to the extent possible to mitigate flooding during snow melt and rainfall events.  Residents are reminded that they can contribute to the effort to reduce pollution of the river by not placing their yard waste and grass clippings in the road and by cleaning up spills of anti-freeze and oil from leaking vehicles.

Cross Connection Program Resumes

faucetThe Village's Cross Connection Inspection Program has resumed for 2013.

In order to reduce overall costs for compliance with DNR Regulation NR810.15, the Village of Saukville Water Utility has contracted with Hydro Designs, Inc. (HDI) to assist in managing our Cross Connection Control Program.  HDI will again be sending postal notices and begin to perform initial inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings throughout the Village to detect actual and potential cross connections and make recommendations for the installation of backflow prevention devices where necessary.  Find more information on the Utility Services page of our website.

Economic Growth The Village of Saukville has teamed up with Port Washington State Bank, who committed $250,000 to a loan pool, to encourage business development and revitalization in the Downtown Redevelopment Area and the Foster Commons Mixed Use Overlay District No. 1.  The loan proceeds will be utilized to fund a wide variety of commercial projects ranging from assisting new businesses locating in the downtown areas with start-up costs, to helping existing businesses with renovations or expansion plans.  The loans will carry below market rates and favorable terms.  The program will provide loan funding from $5,000 - $50,000 per applicant, depending on the proposal.  For more information contact Village Hall @ 262-284-9423 or ComDev@village.saukville.wi.us.
