The Big Reveal: New Website with Special Features

The new website will go live in January 2013. There are a number of new features that will streamline the certification process and make finding resources and grants easier. New features will include:

  • Grants portal that allows users to search for available statewide and national grants based on special criteria specific to project needs or geographic location.
  • Improved certification profile features that streamline the process for setting up a municipal profile, uploading documents and allows for multiple users from one municipality. Each profile will now provide action timestamps so users can see how many years a town's individual actions are valid.
  • Comprehensive calendar and listing of sustainability events, webinars, workshops and networking sessions. A new feature allows Green Teams and community members to post events to the public calendar.
Economic Developement Association award

Sustainable Jersey Wins Award from Economic Development Association

On December 14, Sustainable Jersey was awarded the 2012 Sustainability Award from the Economic Development Association of New Jersey. One focus of the award is the work we do to enable New Jersey towns to support their local economy and use community resources. Sustainable Jersey has a set of actions designed to improve the local economy that towns complete in order to achieve certification. The local economy actions include developing buy local and green business recognition programs and implementing green jobs and economic development initiatives.

Take Advantage of New Actions: Direct Install and Home Performance with ENERGY STAR

Two of the new actions added in 2013 include: Direct Install and Home Performance with Energy Star. New Jersey's Clean Energy Program provides financial incentives and rebates to residents and businesses that implement energy saving activities.

The new actions ask municipalities to promote these programs to homes and businesses. Direct Install is a turnkey solution that makes it easy and affordable to upgrade to high efficiency equipment. The Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program offers reduced cost household energy assessments, cash rebates and loans for homeowners to implement energy upgrades. Sustainable Jersey participating towns get points for doing the promotion and additional points for meeting a designated adoption percentage for the municipality.
