Commemorate the 35th Anniversary 
of the 1980 Mount St. Helens Eruption

Hard to believe 35 years have passed since the mighty eruption of Mount St. Helens... Visit this historic landmark and learn about the eruption and all that has changed during the 35 year recovery. Special anniversary talks will be offered at the Windy Ridge Amphitheater May 23, 24 and 25 during Memorial Day weekend at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m.

Daily interpretive programs begin at Windy Ridge, and along Forest Service Road 99 to Windy Ridge, beginning June 27 and continue through the summer. 

Also mark your calendars for the grand opening of the new Cascade Peaks Information Station on Forest Service Road 99, Saturday July 18. 

Make this the year to visit!  The Windy Ridge area offers a unique view of blown down timber and stunning views of Spirit Lake. Short hikes into the Spirit Lake area and the Windy Ridge viewpoint bring you within four miles of the Mount. St. Helens crater. Views of Mt. Adams, Mt. Rainier and Mt. Hood are all visible from the road to Windy Ridge at Mount St. Helens. This is the wild side of the mountain, less developed and less crowded. Come see for yourself the awesome display of nature's power.
