Here's to an Art Filled 2014!

2013 was a fruitful year for public art in Albuquerque. We celebrated our 35th Anniversary at the KiMo Theatre this year. We dedicated the Bear Canyon Pedestrian Bridge lighting project, "Any Angled Light." The Harwood ASI  Convention Center Mosaic was completed. We implemented our Strategic Plan. "Revivir" was honored as one of the top 50 public art projects in the country. We installed five of nine "City-wide Sculpture" projects, and "Fire Rocket" at Fire Station 2. We updated the Arts Board By-laws. And we surpassed 1,000 "likes" on our Facebook page.

2014 looks to be an exciting year as well. Stay tuned for all of the interesting projects that will be installed around town by checking this e-newsletter and our Facebook page. And share the sign-up link with your friends!
We here with the City of Albuquerque Public Art Urban Enhancement Program wish you a happy and healthy New Year. Thank you!
Stories of Route 66 -
The International District

The Stories of Route 66 project invites residents of the International District (ID) to free community storytelling and art workshops beginning in January.

A team of Littleglobe artists will engage residents in storytelling, visual art, theater, movement, poetry, film and other creative activities every Sunday afternoon from January to June 2014.
Free weekly workshops will lead to three works of art and/or performance--created by artists and community members--that will premiere in July of 2014 at three locations in the ID, creating an exciting portrait of the area and its people.

No experience, application or registration required; simply show up on January 12 or any subsequent Sunday afternoon to participate. All ages, including families, are welcome.

For more information, email me at valerie@littleglobe.org or call 505-603-0866, or visit www.littleglobe.org.

Get Your Temporary Art Downtown!

tART: temporary art in downtown public places, is a Downtown Action Team & MainStreet initiative, in collaboration with ArtsCrawl and Creative Albuquerque, to bring temporary art to underutilized sites throughout the Downtown area. The purpose of the project is threefold: to provide year-round support of artists, existing art programs and events; promote a regular art activity which gives people a reason to linger downtown; and activate underutilized spaces and places that could benefit from increased visitation.
