Cherry Hills Library Dedication Ceremony
Join the Public Art Program, the Arts Board and the Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Library System, as we celebrate the addition of "Los Libros" at the Cherry Hills Library (6901 Barstow St NE, 87111). "Los Libros" is a series of three stainless steel sculptures that reference the turning pages of books, and is the first kinetic sculpture in the Albuquerque Public Art Collection. The sculptures were created by artist John Northcutt from Las Cruces, NM and is the third artwork to be installed for the "City-wide Sculpture Project." The event will take place at 2:00pm on Friday, August 23rd. |

New Mexico Veteran's Memorial Park Dedication Ceremony
Join the Public Art Program, the Arts Board and the Public Art Urban Enhancement Program, as we welcome the addition of "Holes in Our Hearts" at the NM Veteran's Memorial Park (1100 Louisiana Blvd. SE). "Holes in Our Hearts" is an artwork created by Steve Borbas that is dedicated to Vietnam Veterans from New Mexico that died in combat. Each hole in the artwork represents a person who was killed. There are 397 holes. The event will take place from 5:30-7:30pm on Friday, August 23rd. |

NM Arts Announces the 2013 Purchase Initiative
New Mexico Arts is pleased to announce the 2013 Purchase Initiative. Professional artists and galleries in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah are invited to submit qualifications along with three professional quality images of artwork available for purchase. Artists must currently reside in the states listed above. Galleries located in these states may submit qualifications on behalf of artists represented by the gallery, regardless of residency. The deadline for receipt of submissions is 11:59pm (MDT) on September 23, 2012. The Art in Public Places Program uses the CaFE electronic application and selection process online at http://www.callforentry.org. ONLY applications submitted through the CaFE system will be accepted. |

Yelp Helps Event Looking for a Local Artist!
Yelp Albuquerque is throwing a nonprofit extravaganza and they're looking for a local artist to capture the fun! The Yelp group is looking for a painter or muralist to capture the spirit of their August 22nd event by producing a work of art that will be auctioned at the end of the night, with 50% of the proceeds benefiting the South Valley Economic Development Center and 50% going back to the artist.
