ND Students Participated in the 30 Hour Famine Hosted by St. Philip Parish
Four Notre Dame students courageously accepted the challenge of fasting from all food for 30 hours to help raise awareness of world hunger at St. Philip Parish in Norwalk. Between beginning their 30 hour famine with prayer and ending their famine sharing in the Holy Eucharist at Mass, our students dedicated their time to serious service work! By the numbers:
Teens who participated... 214
Pairs of shoes cut out from old jeans... 40
Meals packaged to be shipped to Africa... 20,700
Money raised so far... $45,000
Helping solve world hunger... PRICELESS
Students Participate in Convivio
Over 30 Notre Dame students joined 220 teens at Convivio, an annual diocesan youth event held at Sacred Heart University. We are so proud of our students who participated in various talks, times of prayer and games learning how to "Uplift the World" through acts of Mercy. We are thrilled that Notre Dame had the highest representation of the five Diocesan high schools!

Safe Driving Assembly - Don't Text and Drive
On Tuesday, members of the junior and senior class attended a presentation by the "Save a Life Tour". This assembly was made possible by a grant from the Connecticut Department of Transportation. After watching a video of four people whose lives were significantly impacted by a distracted driver, students had the opportunity to use driving simulators creating real driving experiences while attempting to read and respond to text messages. Students then signed a pledge to not text and drive.
Seniors Participate in the Annual Medieval Fair
On Friday, March 4, the seniors in Dr. Callaghan's Humanities class presented their
in-depth research on the people and practices of the Middle Ages at their annual Medieval Fair.  Arthurian legend was well represented by Merlin, Morgan Le Fay and a redoubtable Knight.  A young Alchemist and his Lady were trained in the arts of Courtly Love by an experienced young Squire.  A Flautist and a Fiddler accompanied the festivities with a live performance of the 14th-century composer, Guillaume de Machaut. An Armorer demonstrated his trade with citizens of both high and low estate and, happily, no one needed the services of the well-versed Plague Doctor. While the early years of both noble and peasant children were outlined, the class feasted on some typical medieval fare: garlic chicken, country ham, dried sausage, cheddar, nuts, olives, fruit jams and apple-pear oatmeal crumble.  The highlights of the feast were the rye and white breads and almond-honey spread prepared by two members of the Bakers' Guild and the aromatic and healthful tea concocted for all by the Apothecary.
Art Students Create Vases
Mr. Testani's Art & Technology classes are creating vases and working with pottery within their handheld devices.

Alumni Association Update
Be A Part of ND's 60th Anniversary
Notre Dame High School was founded in 1955 by the Most Reverend LawrenceSheehan. In 1955, construction of Notre Dame High School began on Park Avenue in Bridgeport. In 1956, the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur began teaching Notre Dame's first class of girls at Our Lady of the Assumption School in Fairfield while the high school was being built. Finally, in September of 1957, 1,000 students (freshmen and sophomores, boys and girls) walked through the doors of Notre Dame High School on Park Avenue.

To commemorate the 60th anniversary of Notre Dame (the oldest high school in the Diocese of Bridgeport) we are planning a year-long celebration of events which will begin in September, 2016 and run through September, 2017. We are looking for alumni, alumni parents, current parents, faculty (past and present), and friends of Notre Dame to help us plan this extraordinary event in our school's history.

If you would like to be a part of the celebration, please contact Theresa Marzik at tmarzik@notredame.org.
