Lancer Legacy Gala - March 12
There is only one week until Notre Dame's Fifth Annual Lancer Legacy Gala, which will will take place on March 12, 2016 at Sacred Heart University.  Please support this event as this is Notre Dame's biggest fundraiser of the year and supports activities, technology, Campus Ministry, and Notre Dame's continued growth.  It's a great way to have a fun evening with your spouse or a group of friends and another way to meet members, both past and present, of the Notre Dame community!

A special Gala evite was sent to all parents. Please don't forget to RSVP. All ND parents who purchase a Gala ticket will have their name entered into a drawing for a $500 tuition credit.

There are several ways you can support this year's event including purchasing tickets or sponsoring the event, purchasing an ad in the Gala Program, or donating a gift or service to our auction (suggestions can be found on the Gala Giving Tree located in the Main Office).  Students returning an item for the auction will get a dress down day in the spring.

For more information, please click here to log on to the Gala website. If you have any questions about this great event, please email Theresa Marzik at tmarzik@notredame.org.

Social Studies Department Update
In Mr. Skawinski's American History classes, students have been learning about the dark history of slavery which lead to the Civil War. In one assignment, students were asked to reflect on their learning and create a Word Cloud including their thoughts on slavery and ways to describe it.

Students in Mr. Guerrera's freshmen classes completed presentations on European Society during the Middle Ages. Projects included creation of a sign to hang outside of a place of business, recruitment poster for Christian or Muslim army for the Crusades and a timeline for each of the Crusades.
Art Classes Create Tattoos
Mr. Testani's Contemporary Art class is creating detailed tattoos with animal themes. They created their images in black & white and worked with pen and ink to create the image.
Students Become Teacher For The Day
Students in Miss Alberti's Spanish 2 Honors classes have been busy.  They have been brainstorming, collaborating, and creating lessons.  Each student was put into a pair/group.  Each group was responsible for teaching their fellow classmates a certain section of food vocabulary. They searched for pictures online, printed them out, introduced them to the class, posted them on bulletin boards, described them, used them in sentences and had students practice with them.  Some had oral practice, some had Quizlet usage, some had worksheets, while others created their own games (for example: Jeopardy).  he "teaching students" also had to determine the homework for their lesson.  Their goal: teach the material in a way that they connected to, understood, and enjoyed.

Alumni Association Update
Be A Part of ND's 60th Anniversary
Notre Dame High School was founded in 1955 by the Most Reverend LawrenceSheehan. In 1955, construction of Notre Dame High School began on Park Avenue in Bridgeport. In 1956, the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur began teaching Notre Dame's first class of girls at Our Lady of the Assumption School in Fairfield while the high school was being built. Finally, in September of 1957, 1,000 students (freshmen and sophomores, boys and girls) walked through the doors of Notre Dame High School on Park Avenue.

To commemorate the 60th anniversary of Notre Dame (the oldest high school in the Diocese of Bridgeport) we are planning a year-long celebration of events which will begin in September, 2016 and run through September, 2017. We are looking for alumni, alumni parents, current parents, faculty (past and present), and friends of Notre Dame to help us plan this extraordinary event in our school's history.

If you would like to be a part of the celebration, please contact Theresa Marzik at tmarzik@notredame.org.
