Lancer Legacy Gala - March 12
And the countdown continues...2 weeks until Notre Dame's Fifth Annual Lancer Legacy Gala which will will take place on March 12, 2016 at Sacred Heart University.  Please plan on attending this event as this is Notre Dame's biggest fundraiser of the year and supports activities, technology, Campus Ministry, and Notre Dame's continued growth.  It's a great way to have a fun evening with your spouse or a group of friends and another way to meet members, both past and present, of the Notre Dame community!

A special Gala evite was sent to all parents. Please don't forget to RSVP. All ND parents who purchase a Gala ticket will have their name entered into a drawing for a $500 tuition credit.

There are several ways you can support this year's event including purchasing tickets or sponsoring the event, purchasing an ad in the Gala Program, or donating a gift or service to our auction (suggestions can be found on the Gala Giving Tree located in the Main Office).  Students returning an item for the auction will get a dress down day in the spring. All donations should be returned to school by Friday, March 5th.  In order for our Gala auction to be a success we need 100% parent participation.

For more information, please click here to log on to the Gala website. If you have any questions about this great event, please email Theresa Marzik at tmarzik@notredame.org.

Religion Department Update
Mr. Sweeney's Senior religion classes have begun to review for the ACRE assessment and will be giving presentations on various religions starting next week, while sophomores are busy studying the Gospel of John.

Miss Medoff's morality classes have just finished a unit on Media Ethics and Lent.  They explored how important it is to responsibly evaluate commercials, advertising, television, music, video games, computer use, and journalism.  They also looked at ways to improve oneself through traditional Lenten practices like prayer, fasting, and almsgiving as well as other devotions like the Stations of the Cross and Divine Mercy Chaplet.  They are working on their quarter projects right now which are debates of various topics such as embryonic stem cell research, capital punishment, the welfare system, beauty pageants, abortion, euthanasia, prayer in public schools, animal testing, affirmative action, the drinking age, legalized marijuana, and immigration.  Periods F and G also are helping to create a mural for the Jesse Lewis Choose Life Foundation
Students in Mr. St.Onge's freshmen classes have been working on creating prayer services for their classmates.  After breaking into groups and developing their own prayers services, the freshmen presented their ideas to the whole class.  Each class voted on which service they would like to do, and the winning groups will be leading their classmates through their prayers services next week. Mr. St.Onge's Junior class has been preparing to start their vocation project.  Students will be assigned different vocations in life and will be exploring everything involved with living out that vocation.  In a sense, the project is a life simulation meant to help students think about the moral implications of living out their adult lives.

Convivio
Convivio is being held on March 4, 5 and 6 at Sacred Heart University. Convivio is an International congress for youth that is organized by the Marian Community of Reconciliation and sponsored by the Diocese of Bridgeport. Over the past 30 years, Convivio congresses have been held in Australia, England, the Philippines, Angola and many countries in South America, and thousands of teenagers have gathered with other young people to search for meaning in their lives and find answers to the problems of contemporary society.

Convivio gives young people the opportunity to ask essential questions about their lives, the world around them and their faith. Convivio is different from other youth events because students participate in small group discussions, led by other youth, that are based on talks given by various speakers. In small groups, the young people reach conclusions that they later present to the larger group. The Convivio weekend includes time for Mass, the sacrament of Reconciliation, Eucharistic adoration, games, socializing, music and skits.

Alumni Association Update
Be A Part of ND's 60th Anniversary
Notre Dame High School was founded in 1955 by the Most Reverend LawrenceSheehan. In 1955, construction of Notre Dame High School began on Park Avenue in Bridgeport. In 1956, the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur began teaching Notre Dame's first class of girls at Our Lady of the Assumption School in Fairfield while the high school was being built. Finally, in September of 1957, 1,000 students (freshmen and sophomores, boys and girls) walked through the doors of Notre Dame High School on Park Avenue.

To commemorate the 60th anniversary of Notre Dame (the oldest high school in the Diocese of Bridgeport) we are planning a year-long celebration of events which will begin in September, 2016 and run through September, 2017. We are looking for alumni, alumni parents, current parents, faculty (past and present), and friends of Notre Dame to help us plan this extraordinary event in our school's history.

If you would like to be a part of the celebration, please contact Theresa Marzik at tmarzik@notredame.org.
