Lancer Legacy Gala - March 12
And the countdown continues...3 weeks until Notre Dame's Fifth Annual Lancer Legacy Gala which will will take place on March 12, 2016 at Sacred Heart University.  Please plan on attending this event as this is Notre Dame's biggest fundraiser of the year and supports activities, technology, Campus Ministry, and Notre Dame's continued growth.  It's a great way to have a fun evening with your spouse or a group of friends and another way to meet members, both past and present, of the Notre Dame community!

A special Gala evite was sent to all parents. Please don't forget to RSVP. All ND parents who purchase a Gala ticket will have their name entered into a drawing for a $500 tuition credit.

There are several ways you can support this year's event including purchasing tickets or sponsoring the event, purchasing an ad in the Gala Program, or donating a gift or service to our auction (suggestions can be found on the Gala Giving Tree located in the Main Office).  Students returning an item for the auction will get a dress down day in the spring.

For more information, please click here to log on to the Gala website. If you have any questions about this great event, please email Theresa Marzik at tmarzik@notredame.org.

News from the World Language Department
Students in French and Spanish are actively involved in preparing lessons to teach to their fellow classmates. Students in every level of language are busy designing a variety of lesson plans in language and culture. Some students will teach the material alone, some in pairs and others in groups depending on the time and size of the entire class.

In conjunction with Black History Month, Spanish 4 is preparing to teach about our Afro/Hispanic influence in the Americas. Their lessons include linguistic as well cultural contributions made throughout history. This is one of numerous examples of our World Language Student Teacher objectives.

In Mrs. Morales' sophomore classes, College Prep students are learning about traveling by train with new Spanish vocabulary while the High Honors students are learning about different life stages, relationships and celebrations in their new unit.
In the Junior classes, students have been dissecting the grammar structures of sentences that use direct object pronouns and indirect object pronouns. They have taken the lead in coming up with theories as to how sentences with double object pronouns are constructed in student-led lessons.

In Mme Zac's French I classes, students are busy studying French adjectives, gender agreement and placement. To help everyone better understand these interesting little words, the classes have enjoyed two sessions of "Prof du Jour!" Félicitations to
Annalee Gaudreau '19Rosa Badolato '19, and Brian Green '19 for exhibiting their
great teaching skills for our student centered learning classes! French II also boasted two"Profs du Jour": Dasha Bazile '18 and Samantha Camacho '18 helped their peers better understand a unit on La Nourriture (food)!  This "lunch" class can now name most of the items sold in our own cafeteria! Bravo to Mlle Guymara Manigat '17 for her efforts as "Prof du Jour" of the French III class. Well versed in French, Guymara helped to guide her peers through a chapter of the novel: La Maison d'Oncle Max. She was aided by
Livia Silva '17, Arianna DeNitto '17, and Audrey D'Amico '17 who reinforced the chapter with their review classes of the coordinating workbook chapter. French IV students are continuing their studies of French literature in relation to French history. Presently studying 17th century literature, Jean de la Fontaine, the famous French fabulist, and Francois de La Rochefoucauld, the French author of maxims, are being highlighted. The class is also reading L'Enfant Noir and continues its lessons on modern vocabulary.

Convivio
Convivio is being held on March 4, 5 and 6 at Sacred Heart University. Convivio is an International congress for youth that is organized by the Marian Community of Reconciliation and sponsored by the Diocese of Bridgeport. Over the past 30 years, Convivio congresses have been held in Australia, England, the Philippines, Angola and many countries in South America, and thousands of teenagers have gathered with other young people to search for meaning in their lives and find answers to the problems of contemporary society.

Convivio gives young people the opportunity to ask essential questions about their lives, the world around them and their faith. Convivio is different from other youth events because students participate in small group discussions, led by other youth, that are based on talks given by various speakers. In small groups, the young people reach conclusions that they later present to the larger group. The Convivio weekend includes time for Mass, the sacrament of Reconciliation, Eucharistic adoration, games, socializing, music and skits.

Alumni Association Update
Be A Part of ND's 60th Anniversary
Notre Dame High School was founded in 1955 by the Most Reverend LawrenceSheehan. In 1955, construction of Notre Dame High School began on Park Avenue in Bridgeport. In 1956, the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur began teaching Notre Dame's first class of girls at Our Lady of the Assumption School in Fairfield while the high school was being built. Finally, in September of 1957, 1,000 students (freshmen and sophomores, boys and girls) walked through the doors of Notre Dame High School on Park Avenue.

To commemorate the 60th anniversary of Notre Dame (the oldest high school in the Diocese of Bridgeport) we are planning a year-long celebration of events which will begin in September, 2016 and run through September, 2017. We are looking for alumni, alumni parents, current parents, faculty (past and present), and friends of Notre Dame to help us plan this extraordinary event in our school's history.

If you would like to be a part of the celebration, please contact Theresa Marzik at tmarzik@notredame.org.
