ND Tutoring Center

The ND Tutoring Center is open Monday through Thursday from 2 - 3 pm in Room 212. No appointment necessary. The Center is staffed by NHS and SHU tutors

Library Hours 
The library is open Monday - Thursday until 4:00 pm and on Fridays until 3:00 pm.

...Noah Cirisoli '15 who was awarded the National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete award. Noah was selected based on his performance and character both on and off of the field.

This Week at ND...
Spring Arts & Writings Magazine
As part of the Spring Arts Festival, a Spring Arts & Writings magazine was created. The English and Art classes provided poetry and writings with visual pieces to be showcased in the magazine. Click here to view and download this issue.

French Classes Create Children's Books
Period H French II proudly presented their French final projects this week: children's books in French that were hand-crafted. Students: Trendon Gardner '16, Jesse McIntosh '16, Diana Estephen '17, Stella Henry '17, and Gabe Bitencoutt '17.  Missing from photo: Cristale McWilliams '17. 

Art Classes Use Emphasis in Their Work

Students in Mr. Testani's art classes created a black and white image and used the principle of emphasis to add an element of color to an object within the picture. Care Club
Our last project for the school year is now upon us! The Bridgeport Homeless Project will hold its fair in August. Now though May 27, we are asking your help in donating bottled water - any sizes. We would appreciate it if each student would bring at least one bottle to the library collection area. Thank you for caring and continued support.

College Essay Workshop for Juniors

Do you want to get started on your college essay this summer? There will be a college essay workshop on Tuesday, June 2 from 2:00-3:00 pm in room 207. We will go over the Common App questions and brainstorm potential topics. Please see or email Mr. Sulzycki for details and to sign up at msulzycki@notredame.org.


Computer Education Academy

Current sophomores and juniors are invited to apply for an exciting opportunity - the Computer Education Academy. CEA is a fun-filled active computing learning community for twenty 10th and 11th grade high school students. The Academy will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for 24 Saturdays during the 2015-16 academic school year on the Fairfield University campus.  Bus transportation (for Bridgeport residents) and lunch will be available to all students at no cost to them.

 

CEA will expose students to key computing concepts and basic computer programming through hands-on activities designed by the faculty at Fairfield University. Students will have an opportunity to learn and work in teams to develop actual computer applications at Fairfield University. The students will be guided by assistants and professors at Fairfield University to ensure a good connection with professional practice and actual applications of computational thinking. CEA is open to any 10th or 11th grade high school student. No previous computing background is required but an interest in learning computing is essential.

Interested in Becoming a Host Family?
CIEE (Council on International Educational Exchange) is looking for potential host families for the following students.  Each student comes with health insurance, accidental dental and spending money for activities and personal expenses.  Families will also receive a monthly stipend for hosting. For more information please contact: the CIEE Local Coordinator, Kerri Felice Murray at kerrifm@att.net or 860-382-2361. 2015-16 ND Busing Application
Families planning to use Notre Dame busing during the 2015-16 school year are asked to return the attached bus application form to the main office by Wednesday, May 27. The fee for busing has been set at $1,425.00 and is to be paid in four installments.

Please note - Notre Dame's ability to provide this service is dependent upon the number of families who sign up for busing. Routes may be shortened or not offered if interest does not meet the overall cost of the busing. Please contact Barbara Ezepechick in the Main Office with any busing questions.
 
Senior Textbook Rental Returns
Seniors are reminded to returned rented textbooks directly to the Sacred Heart University Bookstore as soon as possible. Books not returned by the deadline will be charged to the family account.

Dates and times for underclassmen textbook return in June will be announced in the near future.

 

SHU to Host Study Skills 4 Students  

In 3-sessions, your student will learn easy-to-implement strategies and systems to be active, engaged and successful in school this fall. S4 provides all materials for workshop use and at-home support as well as a 10% discount for Notre Dame families.  Click here for more details and schedule.

Lancer Open Golf Tournament Committee Meeting
T
he Lancer Open Golf Tournament Committee will have a meeting on Monday, June 1 at 6:30 pm in the ND library.  We are always looking for some new committee members to help make this year's golf tournament a success.  All proceeds from the tournament directly benefit our students.

Father's Club Meeting
The newly formed ND Father's Club will have their first meeting on Thursday, May 28 at 6:30 pm in the library.  All ND dad's are encouraged to attend.

Check out the Summer Pre-College Program at Sacred Heart University. Earn credits that count at Sacred Heart University or at other schools and explore college majors. Classes are taught by the Sacred Heart faculty. Two basketball clinics will be offered for boys and girls ages 6 to 16 by ND's head basketball coach, Vin Laczkoski and ND's assistant coach, Steve Ray, from June 22-26 or July 6-10. Click here for more information. 

Support the Wrestling Team
ND wrestling finished their first year as a program and had a fantastic season. Since the program evolved shortly before the season started, there was not sufficient time to fundraise for a wrestling mat so one was borrowed from a neighboring school and hauled back and forth numerous times. Please help ND Wrestling grow as a program by donating any amount toward the purchase of a new mat. Click here to visit the team's Go Fund Me page.

St. Anthony's Relic to Visit Connecticut

This June, in honor of the Feast of St. Anthony of Padua, Father Paolo Floretta will bring a holy relic of St. Anthony of Padua from his Basilica in Padua, Italy to the Diocese of Bridgeport. The holy relic tour will be at St. Charles Borromeo on June 6 and 7. Click here for more information.

 

Catholic Relief Services

CRS and Caritas' partners, Caritas Nepal, Caritas India and Caritas Australia have mobilized an immediate response to the earthquake in Nepal. CRS is providing immediate materials for emergency shelter, safe water, sanitation and hygiene. Click here for updates on how the Catholic Church is responding to the earthquake.
