Math Department Update
The Math Department is completing the year with some topics that will carry over to future math classes.  Algebra I students have advanced from linear equations to quadratic equations. This involves all sorts of factoring. In Algebra II, students are performing operations in function format and the Algebra II/Trig students are completing the study of rational numbers and are progressing into trigonometry. Honors Analysis classes are studying composite and inverse functions and the High Honors Analysis students are completing work with the length of the arc and area of a sector. The Trig/Analytical Geometry class is completing the year with the study of reference angle and the inverse of trig functions. Calculus students are ending with derivatives of exponential and logarithmic functions.  The statistics class ends the year with finding probability by using the graph of the normal distribution.

Students Raise Money for Charities
With the help of Mr. Sulzycki, Ms. Medoff and Dr. Callaghan, the National Honor Society sponsored a Dress Down Day on Friday, May 1.  The entire ND community participated in raising funds for the Bridgeport CROP WALK and veterans of our Armed Services.  These charities reach out to those in our surrounding areas who are hungry and also to those returning veterans who might need assistance with medical/dental care, legal counsel, tax assistance and employment guidance. Notre Dame supported these causes wholeheartedly and raised $660 to be divided equally between the two groups.  A big thank you to all who participated!

Student Garden Tended to Daily
Students in the UConn Environmental Science class who recently planted a flower garden near the flag pole, continue to monitor their efforts daily and provide plenty of water to the new plants, especially with the recent lack of rain. Shown in this picture, Sydney Choothesa and Mr. Salce water the plants this week after school.

Graduate Speaks to History Students
On Wednesday, Judge Mary Sommer, a Connecticut Superior Court judge, spoke with juniors and seniors about her journey to a seat on the bench and described some of her experiences since being appointed in 2008. Judge Sommer, a Notre Dame graduate, also answered students' questions and shared her passion of law and the privilege of being one of only 160 judges throughout the state.

Beginning this week and ending May 27, we are asking your help in donating bottled water - any sizes. Please help ND Wrestling grow as a program by donating any amount toward the purchase of a new mat. Click here to visit the team's Go Fund Me page.
