Important Information for Juniors

ACT Testing - Junior Students

On Tuesday, March 17, the Guidance office will be administering the ACT test to Junior class students. There is no cost to the students to take this exam. The school day will be a half-day session. Please see that all students arrive to school on time. Each student will need at least two #2 pencils and they may also bring their calculator.  Calculators that are allowed for use during the ACT test are: a 4-function, scientific, or a graphing calculator.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact the Guidance office: 203-374-2618. Ms. Magdaline Tiftikidis is the ACT testing coordinator.

SAT's

The Guidance Office advises Junior students to take the SAT in the spring of your junior year. By doing so, you can test again in the fall of your senior year to hopefully improve your scores.

The registration for the May SATs is approaching (date of test May 2). The regular registration deadline is April 6 for the May testing. The May testing will be held at Notre Dame.  Late registration is April 17 and the last date to register by phone or online is April 21. Be mindful that the later you register for SAT's, the more money it will cost. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Daniels in Guidance at kdaniels@notredame.orgPlease sign up on the CollegeBoard site by clicking here. The Notre Dame Test Center code is:  07225. Notre Dame's school code is: 070057. To see if you qualify for fee waivers, click here or you may stop by Guidance and pick up a form.

Parents of Juniors

The Guidance Department has mailed out letters to Junior parents. February and March begin the college search process for our Juniors. All Junior parents need to contact their child's counselor to arrange for a parent/student meeting during the school day. The meeting will include familiarizing the parent and student with our Naivance program (students use this program to search for colleges and scholarships), a review of the students semester report card, transcript, PSAT scores, SAT testing and to discuss possible senior year courses. Please call the Guidance office at (203) 372-6521 to arrange an appointment.

Important Information for Seniors

Seniors

The Guidance Office has mailed and sent midyear grades to all colleges that students had requested grades be sent.  If the college or university contacts you directly and indicates that they have not received the mid-year grades, please inform Mrs. Daniels in the Guidance Office via email or phone (203)374-2618.

Important Deadlines for Seniors

Applications

Please make sure you give each of the counselors at least 3-4 days to fill out any scholarship information needed for applications. If any student comes in a day before or the day of a deadline, the counselors will be unable to complete this task. Please know when your deadlines are, and please give time for counselors to complete forms.

Also...

Meet with your counselor at least two weeks before your college application deadlines. Please have your student assessment form completed as well as asking teachers for recommendations.  This will allow the Guidance Office plenty of time to process the required paper work and allow teacher(s) the time to write recommendations by your college deadlines.

All seniors should be checking the scholarship list on Naviance.

When the Guidance Office receives any scholarship information it will be posted on Naviance under "Scholarships". Students should read the criteria to know that the scholarship is for their use.
