On Monday, a group of Notre Dame students teamed up with a group of eighth graders from Saint Andrew School in Bridgeport to prepare and serve dinner to the veterans living at Homes for the Brave in Bridgeport. A special thanks to Susan Baldwin, the youth director at Saint Andrew's, for helping to coordinate this outing.  Thank you to the following ND students who lent a very large helping hand to the project: Karissa Cook '14, Jasmine Fuller '14, Lauren Berard '14, Andrew Mitchell '15, also a graduate of Saint Andrew's.

Art Classes Finish the Year With Perspective
Students in Mr. Testani's art classes finished their last project of the year; one point perspective pop outs. The students used geometric shapes and one point perspective to create their design. Some designs were cut out and placed on a collage background from various magazines to create a contrasting effect. Others created a color scheme for it and utilized that throughout their piece.

These journals are due the first week of class and will be graded.

  • Who is the most interesting character at this point? Why?
  • Can you relate to any of the characters or situations in the book?
  • Compare this book or the characters in it to something else you have read.
  • Does the author use strong imagery (similes, metaphors, etc.)? Give some examples.
  • Write a letter to the author or a character.
  • Identify and writer about a passage that you find to be particularly interesting or effective.
  • What is the main conflict in the story to this point? How do think it might be resolved?
  • Copy down a quote from the book and explain why you think it is meaningful.
