Senior Experience Projects Conclude

The thirteen students who participated in Notre Dame's senior experience program presented their final reports before a faculty committee this Monday. Students completed a 120 hour internship during May with area businesses and non-profits. ND Bookstore Renamed the Richard "Duke" LaTorre Bookstore
 On May 17, Notre Dame renamed its bookstore which will now be called the Richard "Duke" LaTorre Bookstore in memory of Richard LaTorre, a member of the Class of 1965 and long-time member of the Notre Dame faculty. Richard, who passed away in 2011, taught math and computer science at Notre Dame for 42 years and also served as the school's business, financial and bookstore manager. Notre Dame is proud to rename and dedicate the bookstore in his honor.
Art Classes Work With Contrast and Lines
Students in Mr. Testani's art classes have been working with contrast and line styles. They have created pieces using a scratch board and tool to turn their drawings into these works of art.

Field Day at Tisdale Elementary School

Baseball Fundraiser
The baseball team will be sponsoring a fundraiser at Testo's Restaurant on Thursday, June 20 at 6:00 pm. The event will feature a live Cuban cigar roller from Arthur Avenue in the Bronx. Tickets are $50 each and can be obtained by contacting George Estrada '79 at georgeestradavp@gmail.com.
The Lancer Open Golf Tournament
Only two weeks to go until Notre Dame's annual Lancer Open in Memory of Bob Shea. We still have some open spots for golfers and are accepting donations of sponsorships and raffle prizes (sports tickets, bottles of wine, restaurant gift certificates, etc.). AAA Dare To Prepare Workshop for Parents & Teens
Bridgeport Public Library and AAA Southern New England - CT are once again offering a free teen driving information workshop to help parents and teens navigate the journey of pursuing a graduated driver's license (GDL). This informational program will take place on Wednesday, June 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the downtown Bridgeport Library's first floor Teen Café.
"Dare to Prepare," is a 90-minute workshop aimed at 15- and 16-year-olds and their parents. The workshop covers CT's graduated driver's license (GDL) requirements, and what teens and parents must do to obtain a driver's permit and later a driver's license. It reviews distracted driving laws, focuses on the dangers of cell phone use, texting and drinking while driving and provides interactive exercises to drive home certain safety points. This program will be repeated at the library in the upcoming months. The workshop is free.

Tuition
Families are reminded that tuition collection for the 2013-14 school year has begun. Families can visit www.parents.smarttuition.com to access their account. Families who pay tuition in full by June 15, 2013 (as long as financial aid/scholarships are less than $2,500) will receive a $200 discount. Beginning June 15, the main office will no longer be able to accept credit card payments. Any credit card payments must be made through Smart Tuition (and will be subject to a service fee). In addition, payments must be made by the 15th of each month or Smart Tuition will assess a $35 late fee.
Textbook Returns to the SHU Bookstore For the convenience of families who rented textbooks from the Sacred Heart University Bookstore, textbook rental returns (or buy backs if you purchased books and choose to sell them back) will be offered at Notre Dame on the following days: For underclassmen: June 13 and June 14 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm and June 17 from 9:30 to 11:30 am. Families are also welcome to return books directly to the SHU Bookstore at any time. All rentals must be returned by Wednesday, June 19.
Tuition Raffle
St. Ann School is proud to present a $15,000 Special Tuition Raffle. The prize can be used for any Pre K-12 school, college or university.
The prize is to be paid directly to any Pre K-12 schools, colleges or universities. Schools must be located and accredited in the U.S. Only 1,000 tickets will be available at $75 per ticket. 300 tickets must be sold for the raffle to proceed. If fewer than 300 tickets are sold, the raffle will be canceled and the ticket purchasers will receive a full refund. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit St. Ann School.
The $15,000 Tuition Raffle drawing will be held at Black Rock Day on Sunday, June 9, 2013 promptly at 1:30 pm. at Ellsworth Field, Brewster St., in Bridgeport. Winning ticket holder does not need to be present to win.

Travelers Championship Looking for Volunteers The Travelers Championship, Connecticut's premier sporting event, will be taking place in Cromwell from June 17 - 23. The Travelers Championship is looking for people to join their volunteer team. Get Published
The Fairfield County Catholic newspaper is looking for high school-aged Catholic teens to write an article to be published in the Fairfield County Catholic Newspaper and the Diocese Youth Webpage. Head Football Coach Announced
ND is pleased to announce that Ted Boynton has been named the new varsity Football Coach. Coach Boynton has been an assistant coach the past ten years beginning in 2003 under Coach Bevino. Also, he has been the head boys' track and field coach since 2008.
ND Summer Clinics
ND boys' basketball coach, Vin Laczkoski, will be holding a basketball clinic for girls and boys ages 6 to 16. The purpose of the clinic is to teach young players the proper fundamentals of basketball. Click here for more details.
Hoop Heaven Basketball Camp
Improve your basketball skills and have fun while doing it! Games, prizes, contests every day! Directed by Steve Dunn, current Varsity Assistant Girls Basketball Coach at Darien High School and a coach for boys and girls of various ages for the past 25 years, the camp is for boys and girls ages 9-14 and runs from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
