This Week at ND ...
Students and Alumni Gather for Holy Thursday Mass
On Thursday evening, a group of ND students present and past gathered together for Holy Thursday Mass in the ND Chapel.  After Mass, they indulged in an awesome Chip's dinner in Fairfield followed by a "Seven" Church visit.  The Holy Thursday Night Seven Church walk is a tradition that dates back to the 15th century in Rome.  In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus lamented that His sleeping Apostles could not stay awake with Him in prayer for just one hour. This night provides pilgrims participating in this Church pilgrimage to "stay awake" with Jesus in prayer and provide Him with comfort in His approaching sufferings. On this night, Churches all over the world stay open for most of the night and prepare a special and beautifully decorated altar with the Tabernacle upon it to enhance one's prayer experience.  The following students attended this Pilgrimage that took us to most, if not all, of the Fairfield Catholic churches: Lauren Puskar '13, Morgan Sweeney '15, Alex D'Aurio '16, Michelle DeLeon '15, Paul Marzik '11, Mary Boyle '12 and Denis Whelan '11. Special chaperoning thanks to Mrs. D'Aurio, Mrs. Ezepchick and Miss Medoff.

Students Attend Sports Management Seminar and
Sound Tigers Game

On Thursday, a group of students attended the Bridgeport Sound Tigers game at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport.  Prior to the game, the Arena hosted a "seminar" where different speakers associated with Sports Management and Athletic Direction spoke about how one might make a career in the sporting industry either on the high school, collegiate or professional level. The speakers and talk were quite encouraging and provided students with further awareness that making one's education a priority in one's life is the key to success.  After the talks, the students enjoyed an exciting Sound Tiger victory over the Worcester Sharks 6 to 3. Special thank you to Mrs. D'Aurio for helping to chaperone this event. Students that attended were: Jasmine Geaudreu '16, Sierra Chavez '16, Alex D'Aurio '16, Katie Yellen '13, Lauren Berard '14, Becky Stefanatos '15, Collin Rush '13, Peter Petrino '13, Brandon Pavlik '13, Dan Walsh '14, Cooper Demchek '14

Life-Changing Summer Camp Opportunity for Youth Making a Difference!

Youth Empowered Action (YEA) Camp is a unique and inspiring leadership summer camp for youth between the ages of 12-17 who care about community service, activism, and social justice. At a week-long sleep-away program in a beautiful camp setting, YEA campers choose an issue of importance to them and build the knowledge, skills, confidence, and community to take action on that issue once they get home. Campers also build lifelong friendships between youth with similar interests in bettering their community and society. Youth who have participated in the program report that the camp was one of the most fun, memorable and life-changing experiences they have had, and, with YEA's support, many have gone on to start school clubs, plan fundraisers for nonprofits, organize a call-in to Congress, and attend hearings to comment about important community issues. Check out a short video or website to learn more about this unique program.
