Key Club Easter Basket Thank You
The Key Club would like to thank everyone who contributed baskets, candy, and other items for our Easter basket project. Over 100 baskets were made for the children of Bridgeport that Sr. Theresa tends to.  When the baskets were delivered, Sr. Theresa had Lauren Jones '13 and Aly Furgiuele '13 give out baskets to her pre-school children who had just gotten up from their afternoon nap.  The children were so excited to receive their baskets and Sr. Theresa had each of them pose for a picture. Key Club members who helped to put the baskets together included:  Lauren Jones '13, Aly Furgiuele '13, Sandie Samrin '13, Sara Figueroa '13, Michael Lenard '13 and Caitlin Wardlow '16.  Happy Easter to everyone from the Key Club.

Senior Class Visits Washington, D.C.
On Friday, March 22, sixty seniors along with Mrs. Miller, Fr. Cipriani, Mr. Carl Phillipp and Miss Z, along with our bus drivers Bill and Todd, left Notre Dame at 6:45 am for Washington, DC.  On the way, there was a stop in New Jersey for breakfast and in Baltimore at the Inner Harbor for lunch.  After lunch, the group traveled to, followed by a night tour of the capital. The monuments that were visited included: The Vietnam Wall, the Lincoln Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial and the Martin Luther King Memorial. After breakfast on Saturday, the group's first stop was Arlington Cemetery where the group witnessed the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. They then visited the graves of John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy and Teddy Kennedy.  It was then off to the FDR Memorial, followed by lunch at Pentagon City. The afternoon included a picture stop at the White House and a visit to the Smithsonian Museums. Dinner that night was in Georgetown. Sunday was supposed to be a trip to Busch Gardens but the weather did not cooperate. So a trip to the National Zoo replaced the amusement park. Dinner on Sunday evening was at McGill's. Monday morning the group awoke to find that DC was getting some snow. The group left for home and arrived back at Notre Dame at 4:30 pm. The trip was fun-filled and educational, with the seniors returning with great memories from the weekend.

At a week-long sleep-away program in a beautiful camp setting, YEA campers choose an issue of importance to them and build the knowledge, skills, confidence, and community to take action on that issue once they get home. Campers also build lifelong friendships between youth with similar interests in bettering their community and society. Youth who have participated in the program report that the camp was one of the most fun, memorable and life-changing experiences they have had, and, with YEA's support, many have gone on to start school clubs, plan fundraisers for nonprofits, organize a call-in to Congress, and attend hearings to comment about important community issues. Check out a short video or website to learn more about this unique program.
