On Wednesday, we will be collecting a gently used children's and young adult books for donation to a local children's/teen center. Please send in your donations to the main office. Thank you for your continued support of our Acts of Kindness campaign.

Campus Ministry News: Rosary for Newtown
A huge thank you to the students and teachers who participated in praying the Rosary in the ND Chapel for the Sandy Hook/Newtown Families of Sandy Hook Remembrance Day on January 10...either together or on their own at some point during the day. The service began with a short explanation of the Rosary's effectiveness and the many graces and blessings The Virgin Mary promised to those who faithfully recite the Rosary. This show of spiritual force will hopefully be the catalyst for more powerful get togethers of prayer in the upcoming months. Thank you to: Mrs. Miller, Mr. Sulzycki, Fr. Religious Studies Spotlight
The sophomore Religious Studies classes will be studying the origin, history and practices of the Sacraments of Initiation in the next term. Those sacraments include: Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist and Reconciliation. Some students are already in the midst of their Confirmation program at their local parish. May the Holy Spirit guide them on their way.

Save the Date - Parent/Guardian Appreciation Day
As part of Catholic Schools Week, Notre Dame will be celebrating Parent/Guardian Appreciation Day on Wednesday, January 30. Parents are invited to mass at 7:30 am in the Chapel and/or for coffee, bagels and muffins in the library from 7:30 - 9:00 am. This is just a small way to say thank you for all you do for Notre Dame and your child.

Girl's Basketball Bake Sale
The girls' basketball team will be having a bake sale during all lunches on Thursday, January 24. Students are asked to stop by the bake sale table for some great homemade goodies.

Service Day Coming February 1st
On Friday, February 1, Notre Dame students will be going out into the community for the third annual Community Service Day. Last year over 200 students participated in dozens of different projects. In order for this year's effort to be successful, we need Virtus-trained volunteers willing to drive and supervise students at our various work sites. All projects would take place during the school day, between 8:00 am and 2:00 pm. If you are Virtus-trained (or willing to become trained) and can serve as a driver and/or chaperone, please contact Mr. St.Onge at stonge@notredame.org .

College Goal Sunday is two weeks away! At College Goal Sunday (January 27), students and families can get much accomplished in one afternoon:
- Get the FAFSA and CSS Profile submitted with the help of college financial aid experts-in English and Spanish.
- Get 2012 taxes prepared for free by IRS-trained volunteers (for low income families--at certain sites, including U.B.).
- Enter a drawing for a $200 scholarship.
- Have a chance to win other prizes, depending on the site.
- Ask questions of college staff and students.

Auditions Being Held For Guys and Dolls
Do you want to have fun, make new friends and create memories that will last a lifetime? Then you should consider auditioning for this year's school production of Guys and Dolls. The Drama Club welcomes all students to bring their talents to this year's auditions which will be held on January 29 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm and January 30 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm in room 307. Boy's Basketball on MSG Varsity
The Notre Dame of Fairfield vs. Bunnell High School varsity boy's basketball game at Bunnell on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 (7:00 p.m.) will be broadcast on MSG Varsity. The game will be taped and broadcast on the MSG Varsity network the following day: Wednesday, January 30 at 7:30 p.m. The game will be STREAMED LIVE on the MSG Varsity website for those unable to make it to the game. The play by play will be handled by MSG Varsity's Keith Irizarry and the color commentator will be Vin Parise. Irizarry is MSG Varsity's Sports Anchor while Parise is MSG Varsity's Basketball Analyst and a former assistant basketball coach at Rutgers and Iona. The game will also be available for viewing after the January 30 broadcast when it will be posted online at the onDemand channel - Optimum Channel 614.
Girls' Basketball
The Lady Lancers Basketball Team wishes to thank everyone for supporting their fundraising dinner at Chips Restaurant. The fundraiser was a huge success!
 Any student interested in playing a spring sport (Baseball, Softball, Track and Field, Boys' Golf, Girls' Golf, Boys' Tennis, Girls' Tennis, Boys' Lacrosse, and Girls' Lacrosse) needs to sign-up in Mr. Bleggi's office. Sign-Ups end on Thursday, January 31.
Soccer Players
There will be a meeting for all girls soccer players on Wednesday, January 23 at 2pm in the cafe. Please make every effort to attend this meeting. Reminder to all boys and girls soccer players: payment for the RNunes Lancer Cup Soccer Tournament is due on Tuesday, January 22 to Mr. Bleggi. Seniors may also participate.

ND's Lancer Legacy Gala Meeting on Tuesday
 Notre Dame's Lancer Legacy Gala will take place on Thursday, March 14. If you remember, this event was originally scheduled for November but was rescheduled because of Hurricane Sandy. We need everyone's help and talents to make this event a success. There will be a very important Gala meeting on Tuesday, January 22 at 6:00 pm in the school library. All are invited. The Fairfield County Catholic newspaper is looking for high school-aged Catholic teens to write an article to be published in the Fairfield County Catholic Newspaper and the Diocese Youth Webpage. A different article will be published every month and there will be a $25 gift card for each article published. Email articles with photo to jmonroe@diobpt.org.
