Dear Parents, Students, Faculty and Friends,

It is still hard to believe the pictures of the devastation Hurricane Sandy has caused. We are certainly more accustomed to seeing the damage we saw this week in other areas of world, not in our own back yard. Our thoughts and prayers continue to remain with those who have been so negatively impacted by this storm. We pray for those lives that have been lost and for life to return to some sense of normalcy soon.

I thank everyone for their patience during our unprecedented closure of school this week. A bit of good news - as of Thursday evening, power was restored to Notre Dame. Therefore, we will be open on Monday, even if Fairfield Public Schools remain closed. We certainly understand if your son or daughter is unable to attend school because of a continued power outage or other storm-related issues. Please let our main office know Monday morning if this is the case.

Due to the storm, there are several changes to our November calendar:
  • The College Planning Meeting for junior parents, scheduled for Monday, November 5, has been postponed. We will announce a rescheduled date in the near future.
  • Tuesday, November 6 will now be a full day of school.
  • The first marking period has been extended one week and will now end on Friday, November 9.
  • Classes will be held on Monday, November 12. Originally scheduled as Veterans' Day Observed, we will work on planning an appropriate school remembrance of our veterans and the sacrifices they have made for our freedom.
  • Parent-Teacher Conferences are being moved from November 13 to Tuesday, November 20.
  • As of today, the Notre Dame Gala is still scheduled for Wednesday, November 14 at 6:00 pm at the Waterview.
  • Underclassmen Yearbook pictures will now be taken on Friday, November 16.
  • The Senior Class Retreat will be held on Friday, November 16.
  • While we await official confirmation, we believe that SATs originally scheduled for November 3, will be held at ND on Saturday, November 17. We will let families know when we have an official date.
  • Tuesday, November 20 will be a half day for students. Faculty will be available for conferences from 1:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 7:30 pm.
  • Our annual Academic Awards Banquet and Honor Society Inductions will be held on Thursday, November 29, beginning at 6:30 pm.
Again, thank you for your patience during this past week. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,
Christopher Cipriano
Principal
