How to Create a Store "Feel"
Think about a store you love. Wholefoods, Starbucks, Apple, The Disney store. Those stores create an 'feeling'. Pick a store you love and use it as a guide line to create your store's feeling. What little things do they do to create that feeling? What colors, smells, textures, or signs do they have?  The more your customer smells, hears, and touches your store they more they will connect with it.

HOW TO SELL WITHOUT SELLING

Everyone likes to buy, but no one likes to be sold.

 

 So how do you sell without sounding like a sales person? First, when people come into your store do not say, "Can I help you?" Say "Let's go shopping!" Ask if they want to 'play' jewelry.

SAY YES MORE OFTEN

Part of being a great sales person is saying YES! Zappos shoes is famous for its GREAT SERVICE. There are stories of people calling Zappos shoes to order a pizza or for help with their science homework. What does the Zappos employee do? He says YES and get's that pizza! Now that's the kind of service that gets people talking. Recently a high school swim team student asked Taco Bell to make him a custom made Taco Bell speedo. Taco Bell said YES and got 2400 facebook likes by doing it.

 

 

Like Taco Bell, you can also gain fans by saying YES... and not just on Facebook. I'm a loose diamond dealer, but when a customer asks me if I know where they can get a strand of Mikimoto pearls or a 1920's Intaglio men's ring, what do I do? I go and get it! When a customer comes in to YOUR jewelry store asking for something you don't have, tell them you can get it. When they ask for a certain ring style, tell them you can make it. Even if they ask for a branded ring or diamond there might be other jeweler you can get it from. The more positive you are, the more YES'S you say, the more YES'S you will get in return!
