WWII ended and women's roles changed. Women became more modern and would drink, smoke, and wear makeup. Women started to cut their hair short, leading to larger earrings. Black & white jewelry was popular as a tribute to fallen soldiers.

The invention of cultured pearls meant that

more women could afford pearls.
