On Thursday October the 4th The Petawawa Military Family Resource Centre in partnership with the Petawawa Heritage Village hosted a Family Day Festival Barbeque.  We would like to take the opportunity to thank the following businesses for their generous donations with helping to make this event a success; Canex Groceries Petawawa, Food Basics Pembroke, Brums Dairy Pembroke and Moncion West End Pembroke. A big thank you for Pierre Moncion for taking the time and offering BBQ tips. In an emergency every second counts...would you know what to do? The person you save could be some one you love. Sign up now for a Red Cross First Aid / CPR course. Course covers skills needed to recognize, prevent and respond to circulation emergencies, as well as airway and breathing emergencies. Prevention of disease transmission, wound care along with CPR for adults, children and infants, and much more.

For Adolescent Girls  

girls circle training GIrls Circle Program "Being a Girl" - Nov 6th and 13th

Each week, a group of six to ten girls of similar age and development meet with our facilitator.  During this time, girls can express themselves through creative or focused activities such as role playing, drama, journaling, poetry, movement, drawing, collage, clay, and so on.

Girls Circle Training Encourages adolescent girls to:
  • enhance judgment and critical thinking skills
  • stay true to themselves and value their perceptions
  • Make wise and healthy choices/decisions
  • Counter trends towards self doubt
  • Respect themselves and others
  • Voice their ideas and opinions in a safe environment

This clinic covers dental issues, development, speech, vision and general child health.  As well, immunization is available by appointment.   • Achieving the best latch possible, supporting the mother so that she can repeat this on her own at home. 
  • Telling the difference between a baby's sucking and actually getting milk.  
  • Recognizing early feeding cues and knowing when baby has really had enough.  
  • Relaxing so that the mother and the baby may enjoy a peaceful and positive breastfeeding experience.  

We will help with breastfeeding concerns, discuss pain or milk supply issues, and help to prevent future problems.
