KIDS VOTE RETURNS TO EDINA
Election Day, November 8, 2016
A Polling Place Near You

Kids Vote is returning to Edina! This is the fifth time Edina has participated in the national grassroots, non-partisan approach to educate youth about the election process in our democracy.

After having classroom discussions, students join their parents at the family's official designated polling place on Election Day November 8. Using specially-prepared ballots, students will have an opportunity to cast their vote. After casting their own votes, students can accompany adults into their booths to see how actual General Election voting happens. Student ballots are scanned and results are reported by Edina Public Schools the following day.
In the next few weeks, K-9 teachers have curriculum materials and optional lessons that align with Minnesota social studies standards. This material is created by the national initiative, Kids Voting U.S.A., which a handful of other Minnesota school districts including Edina, have adapted for use.
