The first week of school brought to you by Normandale's super staff and fabulous families!  From start to finish, Normandale's first week of school was a success.  Teachers and students had fun learning together these first few days.  Parent volunteers made sure kindergartners got off buses safely and helped them navigate lunch and recess with minimal confusion!

Just a few reminders as we head into the long weekend:
  • Classroom Information Night.  Classroom Information night for all grade-levels is scheduled for September 15th from 5:30 to 7:00 PM.  This event is for parents/guardians only. Teachers will be presenting grade-level information about expectations, procedures, curriculum, etc. at two sessions: 5:30 - 6:10PM:and 6:20 - 7:00PM. Sessions are identical so parents can attend either time or attend the first session for one child and the second session for another child. Please note: these are presentations and not an open house, so please plan to arrive at the start of the session and stay for the entire time.  The rooms where the grade levels will be located are:
    • Kindergarten - ECC Room 348
    • First Grade - ECC Room 351
    • Second Grade - ECC Room 350
    • Third Grade - ECC Room 349
    • Fourth Grade - ECC Room 303
    • Fifth Grade - ND Auditorium
  • Drop-off and Pick-up.  Please click the link for a detailed drop-off and pick-up map.  Here is the executive summary for those of you too busy to read the fine print!
    • Pull all the way forward in the circle before dropping off your student... even if it is raining.
    • Make sure your student is ready to get out of your vehicle before entering the circle.
    • If your student needs your help exiting the vehicle, please park in the parking lot and take all the time they/you need without holding up the line.
    • After drop-off, move to the left lane to allow other cars to advance and drop students off.
  • Goal-Setting Conferences.  When you (families with students in grades 1-5) sign-up for Goal-Setting Conferences don't forget to fill out the Partnership Planning Form, linked to the sign-up page.  Please bring this completed planning form with you to your Goal-Setting Conference.
  • PTO Dues.  Normandale's PTO Dues cover field trips, class parties and Normandale's fabulous intern program.  This year Normandale is hosting 18 intern teachers that serve as cultural and linguistic models for all Normandale students.  This unique program and opportunity would not be possible without your support.

Want to get to know this year's French interns?

The French Intern overnight is coming up September 9th-10th, and we are looking for additional volunteers to chaperone the event. Chaperoning is a great way to get to know your child's intern and to introduce all of our fabulous interns to a unique Minnesota camping experience.

Chaperones are needed to drive interns and supplies to Camp Singing Hills in Waterville, MN, stay overnight in heated cabins, and drive interns home the next morning.

We will leave from Normandale after school on Friday September 9, and will return Saturday morning September 10.

Picture Day on September 15th

School pictures will be taken Thursday, September 15th. We will not be sending home paper order forms.

Please use this link to order your Lifetouch Pictures online.  Online ordering can be done before or up to 48 hours after picture day.  Regardless of order status ALL students will have their picture taken for the yearbook. Questions? Please contact Becca Braun at beccabraun@mac.com.
