From the Principal

Dear Normandale Families,
Before you begin your summer schedules and plans, I would like to share a few end-of-the-year updates with you:
Assessments: Testing season is over and MCA results have been uploaded to SchoolView. If you have a 3rd, 4th or 5th grader at Normandale you can view their preliminary MCA results in SchoolView.
Conferences: In September, classroom teachers will be doing goal-setting conferences with students and families. Watch for more information on this in August.
Construction: The Normandale parking lot is scheduled to be re-surfaced this summer.
Progress Reports: Progress reports for semester 2 go "live" in SchoolView on June 10. Check SchoolView on or after June 10 to see your student's most recent progress report.
Staffing 2016-17:
- Grade 3: Isabelle Skoog, a former Normandale student, joins the Grade 3 team in place of Ben Cornet, who is returning to France.
- Music: Elizabeth Werness will be teaching vocal music part-time in place of Leslie Klus. Elizabeth has a daughter in Grade 1 at Normandale.
- Grade 1: Katie Thomas moves from Kindergarten to Grade 1 in place of Amandine Schoenecker, who is returning to France.
- Kindergarten: Dana Zetterlund, a former teacher at Pierre Bottineau French Immersion School, joins the Kindergarten team in place of Katie Thomas.
Enjoy a safe and happy summer! I look forward to seeing many of you at Normandale's Open House on August 25 between 4:30 and 6:00pm.
Sincerely,
|
Medication Reminder
|
Reminder from the Health Office
If your child had medication in the Health Office, please check their backpack this afternoon to ensure all meds have been picked up before Summer break. Thanks!

PTO Volunteers
|
Help us get a head start for next year's PTO team!
First, a very big thank you to those who have signed up to help with the various volunteer roles for next year. We will be following up over the summer.
There are several volunteers asking for "shadows" next year - so there are many opportunities to learn the ropes with an experienced person before you take over. Baby steps are OK!
If you have questions about a volunteer position or are unsure of where we need the most help, contact Jen Haenel, Volunteer Coordinator.

School Supplies
|
Can you believe it's already to time to order 2016-17 school supplies?
At Normandale, students are not given a school supply shopping list. Instead, we pay into the school supplies fund and then the PTO orders supplies in bulk. This saves parents time and money, reduces waste and promotes sharing as part of our school culture.
The supplies will be delivered to the classrooms the last week in July. In order to meet that timeline and minimize costs, we need payment from parents by June 30th.

Merci from the Media Center
|

The Media staff extends a huge thank you to all of the wonderful parents and friends of the library who volunteered in the media center. With your help students and staff checked out 61,570 books this year ALL of which needed to be placed back on the shelf, in addition to other projects. Thank you for your gracious gift of time that made the media center program a success!
We hope all of you will volunteer in the media center next year. Your time, dedication and sharing of yourself makes the media center ready for all. See you in August!
