Academic Triathlon Success

Kudos to  Normandale's Academic Triathlon (AT) Team, named S.L.A.M.M. (Sally, Lia, Anna, Maria, Mia)!

We are happy to let you know that our team (the only 5th grade team competing) won the regional AT competition on Friday, March 18 and is headed to the AT State Tournament on April 16!

The girls on the 2015-16 AT team are (pictured from left to right): Anna Holmes, Mia Rooney, Lia Tabor, Maria Hadjiyanis and Sally Sebek.

The girls worked hard, played hard and joyously activated their creativity in challenging competition.

Congratulations to the S.L.A.M.M team and best wishes at the State Tournament! For more information, visit the US Academic Triathlon website.

Edina Environmental Forum

Thursday, April 14th, 6:00 pm
Fick Auditorium

It's the 5th annual Edina Environmental Forum titled "A Smart Energy Future: Will Edina Lead the Way?" - and we could also ask "Who will lead the way?"  This forum will explore what a smart energy future might look like, where Edina is currently and engage in intergenerational dialogue on how to lead the way.

The forum will begin with an action resource fair and refreshments from 6 to 7 p.m. The program begins at 7pm with keynote speaker Dr. Elizabeth Wilson, University of Minnesota Professor of Energy and Environmental Policy and Law.  She will address the theme of "A Smart Energy Future" by exploring how energy systems are changing in the face of new technologies and new societal pressures. Her work focuses on the implementation of energy and environmental policies and laws in practice. Following Wilson's presentation, Architect Rick Carter, LHB, Inc., and Director Lissa Pawlisch, University of Minnesota Clean Energy Resource Teams, will look at where Edina is currently and how communities are addressing this question. This "Edina Dialogue" (in partnership with the Edina Community Foundation) is interactive and will have time for attendees to ask questions and participate in the discussion.

The event is free and open to the public.  It will be held in Fick Auditorium at Edina High School, 6754 Valley View Rd, Edina, MN 55439 - enter through door 3.

that help them learn about:

* Puberty and development in males and females
* What is normal (and great) about growing up
* How to have the best parent-child communication possible
* How to maintain and strengthen family bonds

Register at Edina Community Education. $40.00 registration fee is for two attendees, a trusted male adult and a youth. Please register with the adult's name. Call (952) 848-3908 with any questions.

Edina High School Thespians Present...

The Edina High School thespians will be presenting their spring musical, "Freckleface Strawberry," on April 28, 29 & 30 at 7:00pm, at the Edina Performing Arts center. Tickets will be available online soon, with prices of $6 for students/children/seniors, and $10 for adults.

"Freckleface Strawberry will do anything to get rid of her freckles - from scrubbing them with soap, to caking on makeup, and even wearing a ski mask to school! Will her schoolmates realize it's her under the mask? Will Freckleface be brave enough to finally face her complexion in the mirror? With the help of her lovable schoolmates including an amazingly talented ballerina, a cutie jock, a charming ditz, and a totally kooky teacher, Freckleface learns that everyone is different - and that's what makes everyone special! With fun music, awesome dancing... and a freckle-face full of laughs, your whole family will love this brand new musical for all ages . . . freckles or not!" (Description taken from the musical's N.Y. City production website)
