Imagination Fair Registration -- Date Change

The Imagination Fair has a new date - Tuesday, March 8th!  This means registration will open Friday, February 26th.

Our Annual Imagination Fair is an opportunity for Normandale students to showcase their experiments, inventions or creations. All Normandale students from Kindergarten through 5th Grade are invited to participate. Students may work alone, in pairs, or in a group. The 2016 Imagination Fair will now be held on Tuesday, March 8th.

Online Project Registration will be open from Friday, February 26th - Sunday, March 6th.

Don't know where to start? Projects don't need to be complicated. Let your imagination, creativity, and inventiveness guide you. Explore whatever interest you have at this moment.....nature, mechanics, art, technology, fashion, chemistry, photography, animals,
weather, crafts or any hobbies.

Click here for more information on project ideas and guidelines for the Imagination Fair, or contact Amy Vose with questions.

Green Hair Update

We currently have 22 families signed up to host in the 2016-2017 school year. This means we can invite 8 interns to work with our 900+ students at Normandale and Valley View next year. There is still time to sign up to host or partner and get Prinicipal Holden to go GREEN for a day!

We need to reach 58 families to make our goal of 24 interns by February 15. Please visit this link to volunteer as a Host or Partner Family.

Need to know more before you commit? Contact Alley Ohe or Jen Haenel.

French Enrichment - Openings Available for 2nd Session

It's time to sign up for French Enrichment!

These after school classes are project-based, combining interactive learning, organized play, technology and French language and culture lessons designed to support classroom themes.

The French Enrichment classes create a fun, constructive environment for your student to explore the French language with our fabulous interns. Click HERE for more information.

Don't delay! The registration deadline is Friday, February 26th!

Box Tops for Education

It's time to send in your Box Tops for Education!

Normandale will be sorting and submitting our next round of Box Tops for Education within the next couple of weeks. Please send any collected Box Tops to school with your child by Friday, February 19th.

Vide-Grenier: Fundraiser for Haiti

Third Grade Students are planning and hosting the 4th Annual Vide-Grenier (Garage Sale -- Fundraiser) on Wednesday, February 24th for their service learning project.

This year, we would like to invite 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Families to donate items that will be sold. All proceeds will be used to help the community of Lougou, Haiti through the organization COFHED

If you would like to donate items for the garage sale, here are the guidelines:
  • Donate something from your workplace, like old office supplies
  • No weapons or items of a violent nature (guns, swords, etc.)
  • No stuffed animals
  • Only E or G rated CDs, DVDs, and game disks
  • No broken toys or toys with missing parts
  • No items that require trying on (ice skates, soccer shoes, etc.)
  • If items have multiple parts, please label the items (tell us what they are) and put all the parts in a clear plastic bag so parts do not get misplaced
  • Books appropriate for ages K-5 in any language are acceptable
Please bring your donations to any 3rd grade teacher February 17th-19th.  MERCI!

Skateboarding Starts Next Week

Skateboarding in Grades 3-5 starts next week!

Students have been preparing for the PE unit on skateboarding this past week, by checking safety equipment for fit.

Students will be riding boards starting the week of February 17th. Students in 3rd and 5th Grade will be going for three lessons. Grade 4 lessons may be later with Julie Hoechel.

As parents often have questions about this unit, there is an informational page here. If you have additional questions that are not addressed on the site, please reach out to John Hannemann
