Incoming Kindergarten Sibling Preference for 2016-17 School Year
Current Normandale families with a child who will be kindergarten age by September 2016 should have already received the mailing from the district in the form of a 5-fold cardstock brochure with a pink Program Preference Form as one of the panels. Please remember that to receive "sibling preference" for Normandale, you must notify the district office by 6:00pm on January 11, 2016 using one of these options:
- You can tear the pink page off and mail it in. The mailing address is pre-printed for you. You will receive an email confirmation that it has been received.
- You can drop it off at the Student Enrollment Office on the first floor of the Edina Community Center.
- You can fill it out online. The web address is listed on the pink page. You will receive a message that your form has been submitted.
Information turned in after the deadline will be dated and numbered in the order received and placed at the end of the waitlist if a lottery is necessary. If you should have any questions about the process, please contact the Normandale office at 952-848-4100.

Teachable Safety Skills
Monday, January 11, 2016
Edina High School, Performing Arts Center
7-9pm FREE!
* How do I talk to my children about personal safety without scaring them? * How do I talk to my teen about their online choices without alienating them?
Talks on personal and online safety do not have to be top-down, heavy or scary. This workshop provides caregivers and parents with practical tools they can use in talking about online and personal safety concerns with youth of all ages in a positive and empowering way.
Alison Feigh serves as the Program Manager for the Jacob Wetterling Resource Center (JWRC), a program of Gundersen National Child Protection Training Center. Alison came to JWRC in 2001 from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in Alexandria, VA. As a subject matter expert on the topic of child and teen safety, Alison has done extensive media interviews including CNN, Fox News, and local news stations. Her positive, accessible personal safety messages are featured in her children's books "On Those Runaway Days" and "I Can Play It Safe." She is known for her high-energy speaking style and her ability to take on fearful topics while avoiding fear based approaches to education.
As a classmate of Jacob Wetterling, Alison learned early on how important it is to protect children and youth from exploitation.
